Jace is a defensive back who stands out for his ball awareness and ability to anticipate plays before they fully develop. He’s quick to react in man coverage and shows smooth hips when changing directions, which helps him stick with elusive receivers. On film, Jace consistently makes smart plays and shows why he’s a reliable presence in the secondary.
Jace, a defensive back, brings toughness and confidence to the secondary. He has the ability to stay disciplined in coverage, whether in man or zone, and reacts quickly when the ball is in the air. Jace shows strong footwork, fluid hips, and the willingness to step up in run support, making him a well-rounded defender. His instincts and ability to anticipate plays will make him a name to watch this season.
Johnson is technically refined with a smooth backpedal and excellent change-of-direction. He showed twitchy quickness in drills and played with physicality. On tape, he’s feisty in coverage with violent hands and sharp closing speed. His 2023 season included 34 tackles, a sack, and a pick-six. Already holds offers from Austin College, Hendrix College, and McPherson.
A rising star, Johnson combines athleticism with strong fundamentals, consistently winning his matchups and making big plays when it counts. He has an explosive first step, he has the bend to dip and explode past offensive linemen with the ability to close on the ball carrier, showing excellent speed. He is a two-time district champion in the 100M and 300M hurdles and he uses that athleticism to be a menace off the edge. Johnson is playing at a high level for an undefeated Allen team this season and has seen his stock rise in the latest PRZ Texas Rankings. UTSA has come to the table with an offer and I expect more schools to throw their hat in the ring for his services as the next level.
