A defensive end with prototypical size, Holden Heideman Holden Heideman 6'1" | 230 lbs | DL Linn-Mar Marion | 2027 State IA ‘s 6-foot-1 and 230-pound frame could provide him opportunity to play on the defensive line or as an outside linebacker at the next level.

With a strong upper half, Hiedeman uses his upper body strength to shed blocks and make plays in the run game. Along with his ability to stop the run, Heideman seems to have a knack for being around the ball, snagging a screen pass and returning it for a touchdown, posting a strip sack and recovering the ball and blocking a punt during his junior campaign.

Heideman’s sophomore highlight video impressed me this past offseason, when I filed a report about the Linn-Mar defensive lineman. I then had an opportunity to watch him play in person when the Lions took on Iowa City West on Oct. 24, 2025. That live scout backed up the tape, and he also showed maturity since last season. Heideman had refined his technique and filled out physically. It allowed for more power in his game to go along with the quickness and athleticism on display during his 10th-grade campaign. Heideman gets off of the snap well and finds ways to beat tackles getting around the outside or by slipping inside. He produced this year, leading the squad in tackles for loss (6.0) and sacks (4.0). Heideman has a chance to keep developing on the edge with a skill set that could work at outside linebacker in a 3-4 alignment.

Heideman appears to just be scratching the surface of his potential when viewing the clips on his Hudl page. He shows discipline beyond his years in setting the edge and holding the line as an end on a three-player front. Heideman displays strength taking on blocks and good technique when separating from them. His future position will depend on development, physically and as a football player. Heideman’s experience should allow him to increase his statistics from the 33.5 tackles (21 solo) he produced in 2024. He has plenty of room to go before reaching his ceiling.
