has been a standout since youth football, and his first varsity season backed it up. He finished with 2,076 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns, immediately establishing himself as one of the top young running backs in New Jersey.
What jumps out first is his size. He’s built above average for the position, yet he moves with elite ability. He shows speed in the open field, real elusiveness, and a decisive running style. He sees schemes well, hits lanes quickly, and doesn’t waste steps. He also flashed value as a receiver out of the backfield.
It’s hard not to draw comparisons to former Don Bosco and DePaul Catholic back Nolan James — except Kemp looks like a bigger, faster version. With that skill set, he’s already among the state’s top backs.
Kemp has earned offers from Syracuse, Temple, Southern Miss, and Kent State, and this offseason will be vital as he continues to expand his game. As one of the top freshmen in the state, he’s a running back I’ll be watching closely heading into camp season.

Gabe, a future St. Joseph’s running back, made a big impression at the PRZ Next Combine in April. More physically developed than most heading into high school, he showed off a strong upper body and a tough, compact frame. He excelled in every performance test, especially the broad jump, where his explosive power was on full display.
What really separates Gabe is his lightning quick movement and elite reaction time—his ability to make defenders miss in tight spaces is next level. He’s a natural playmaker with the tools to become one of the top backs in the entire state. With early offers from Syracuse and Southern Miss, the ceiling is sky-high.

- Future High School: St. Joseph Regional (Montvale)
This was Kemp’s third PRZ Next Middle School combine, and with his performance, he earned his third straight All-Combine team. Noticeably more chiseled in the upper-body, Kemp continues to be one of the top backs in New Jersey. His position-best 9’4″ in the broad jump was impressive to watch.

last May at the NYNJ Combine in Hillsborough, NJ, where he put on an impressive display of speed and versatility. Clocking one of the fastest 40 times at the camp with a hand-timed 4.59, he showcased the burst and explosiveness that made him a top-3 performer at last year’s event. A dynamic threat out of the backfield, his skill set allows him to impact the game in multiple ways, and I expect similar standout results this time around. After an outstanding middle school career, he’s set to take the next step at St. Joseph this fall, where his potential will only continue to grow.

Kemp is an all purpose back that plays with all heart at 100 mph. One of the best in recent years that I’ve evaluated when it comes to contact balance. He is beyond comfortable in his skin and very confident in his ability to deliver when his number is called. Fast twitch is on 10, vision is top notch, foot work is flawless and he’s still hungry. Took home almost every award imaginable and carries Jersey on his back with pride. As he continues to develop in both size and football IQ, I would not bet against him, this one is destined for great things.

Kemp has been a youth football super star during his middle school career with the Brick City Lions and has opted to reclass to become a 2029 prospect. Kemp was the lone 2029 prospect to be selected as a Top-3 performer as a Running Back at the New Jersey PRZ Next Middle School Combine. Elite footwork and speed right now, to the tune of a hand-timed 4.69 and 4.59 in the forty. After several nice grabs during 1-on-1 drills, I jokingly told him he’s going to be out in the slot some day. He’s got a ton of ability, we’ll see how everything plays out.

#1 Gabe Kemp 5’9 150lbs
Stats: 9 att for 51 yds, KOR 31 yds
Highlight: Long run of 12 yards
Kemp is a New Jersey native that is very familiar to all Brick City Lions fans. He ran hard all night and struggled to find any significant space to get loose early. You could see the body language that he wanted to get things going in order to inspire his team. Kemp fought for every yard he tallied and took what the defense was allowing versus a strong defensive front.
