. Wayzata’s tradition of linebackers is up there as the best in the state, at least from the 2000s and 2010s, so it’s incredibly exciting to see a potential high-level thumper back in the blue & gold of the old Classic Lake heavyweight.
Only 9 tackles in 2025, according to MNFootballHub, but he made each of them count. Cook opens his tape with a thunderous, pad-crunching hit against Eden Prairie that upended a RB with so much force he went parallel to the turf and smashing into the ground well into his sideline due to the sheer force of the collision. Cook really fills gaps with force and authority. He meets ball carriers at the LOS with physicality, driving his feet post-contact to ensure that no extra yardage is gained, but also shows off speed when he shoots gaps and can penetrate the backfield in run defense and as a blitzer. Cook has an eye-catching rep against Lakeville South where the well-built LB chases down a loose tailback 25 yards downfield as the last pursuer for what was a TD-saving tackle. Good long speed and motor, as well as impressive physicality and strength for a sophomore front-seven defender. Keep an eye out for Cook next fall with the new-look Trojans.
