Expert Analysis

David Moore turned in one of the most complete performances of the week. He found the end zone in every phase of the game—scoring on a blocked punt, hauling in two receiving touchdowns, and even taking an interception back for six. Moore’s athleticism, speed, and smooth movement made him a nightmare for Union City all night. Already regarded as West Orange’s best player, this game cemented him as their most versatile weapon and one of the state’s most dangerous all-around playmakers.

from West Orange has committed to the University of Massachusetts. He’s an underrated playmaker with real burst, elusiveness, and open-field speed. Moore also adds value as a potential return man, making this a sneaky-good pickup for UMass with significant upside.

is finally starting to get the attention he deserves. The West Orange standout flashed at the Under Armour camp, showing elite acceleration and smooth change of direction. He’s not just fast—he’s smart with the ball in his hands. His experience at quarterback, running back, and now wide receiver makes him dangerous from anywhere on the field. As a returner, he’s electric—more Cordarrelle Patterson than Devin Hester, with great vision and balance. Moore’s versatility and explosion make him one of the most exciting athletes in New Jersey heading into 2025.
One the more explosive athletes in Jersey in terms of speed, accerlation, and C.O.D. Even tho he has offers imo he’s underrated @DavidMooreJr10 https://t.co/GsMkg0ZqZa

is currently ranked as the #21 Athlete in NJ’s 2026 class, but I expect a radical bump in rank over these next few months. An absolute ball hawk,

‘s tape is some of my favorite out of all of the safeties I have evaluated in the class. Intercepting the ball twice last season and returning one of the those to the house, David roams the secondary and finds ways to get in the path of the throw and bat it down. David also lined up in nearly every position on offense, not only catching 2 touchdowns, but also rushing for one and throwing another two as well. He has an absolute cannon of an arm and throws it with more velocity than most QBs I’ve seen. There are very few ways to slow David down.

was used last year, it is clear that the Mountaineers have adopted the best 11 philosophy. Selflessly, Moore played quarterback (19/33, 252 yards, 2 TD, 3 Int, 8/62/1 rushing), receiver (13/141/2), and safety (22 tackles, 2 solo, 2 Int, 1 pick-six) for his squad. As a quarterback he does a solid job targeting his first receiver and is able to give his target a chance to win and come up with the ball. He also follows play designs and hits the intended hole religiously. When split out Moore shows us he understands the nuance of delayed slip routes, lulling defenders to sleep as he seeps out for a big gain. He is also unafraid to mix it up in the running game. Lastly, as a safety he plays a bit deeper than most, but that allows Moore to see things clearly and get a clean break on the ball and be the safety who corrects everyone on the defense. The most transparent ability that Moore possesses, in my opinion, is his vision with the ball in his hands.

One thing that West Orange seems to do is constantly retool with new Mountaineers who are equally as dangerous playmakers as their predecessors. At 5’10” 170lbs and perhaps their QB-of-the-future,

looks to continue the lineage of explosive talents.
Moore is electric with the ball in his hands. He is quick and can effortlessly shrug off arm tackles. Also a safety, Moore is fluid in rolling and flipping his hips when in coverage. This prevents him from often being out of position when playing the pass and avoids him getting beat. In pursuit when approaching the sideline, he looks to punish the ball carrier by laying a big hit. I will reserve judgement on his ability as a passer because he does not have many clips of this in his highlight tape. Needless to say, this is something we need to see more of should he be their QB for the foreseeable future.
