His performance was simply too good not to mention again, as he established himself as one of the top defenders at the event. Cruz’s frame immediately catches your attention, but what really separated him that Saturday afternoon was how instinctive he was in coverage. Cruz consistently anticipated routes and attacked the football with confidence. When a linebacker combines size, ball skills, and natural instincts the way he does, it’s easy to see why Cruz continues to earn recognition.

The second LB coming in from Georgia, Cruz Ruff Cruz Ruff 6'1" | 180 lbs | LB/DB Woodward Academy | 2030 GA was right up there with Phillip for the title of MVP. Truly a Top Performer at Rize, coaches were excited by what they saw out of him play in and play out. Right off the bat you knew Cruz was a forced to be reckoned with; he has a bigger frame that as he adds muscle will make him a huge physical presence on the field. What impressed me the most from Cruz was his speed in coverage and aggressiveness towards the ball. He consistently positioned himself to get in the way of the ball, and seemed to anticipate the RB’s route before they made their break. He came up with a few interceptions during the drills, capping his Top Performer performance.

He is excellent at what he does, and he was a major standout at our Next camp in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a special talent who will be a name heard at the “RIZE” in New Jersey, excited about this one.

Ruff showed out at our Prep Redzone Next camp and showcased just why he is one of the state’s best out of the 30s class. Ruff really is an all-around player and someone who is an automatic impact player no matter where he is on the football field. Ruff is one to watch because he is going to be a household name in the Peach State for years to come!

Ruff has the ability to move side to side, and he shows a twitchy and explosive side that separates him from a lot of linebackers around. Ruff really showed why he was the MVP of linebackers this weekend, big showing for him!
