Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
One of the toughest, hardest-hitting 2028 EDGE defenders in the Atlanta area, Tate is a promising pass-rusher who explodes off the snap and can get to the quarterback in different ways. He can win with finesse, but he can also overpower opposing linemen due to his size and strength at 6-foot-4 225-pounds. He’s tough to block, plays with a terrific motor, and is an above-average athlete who also shines on the baseball diamond. The promising sophomore defender made 43 tackles last season with eight TFLs and four sacks. He also pressured the quarterback 12 more times. He’s ranked as the No. 100 overall prospect in Georgia for his class, but that ranking should increase this spring.

Read EvaluationMatt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A multi-sport standout from Atlanta who opened some eyes this past year on the gridiron, Tate is an above0average athlete with plenty of size who plays with max effort on the field. Playing for a highly-respected program, getting on the field early isn’t easy, but Tate was able to do it last year as he made 13 tackles and showed the ability to make plays in the backfield. He plays hard, he competes every snap he’s out there, and has enough size to hold his own, shed blocks, and tackle the ball-carrier. He’ll be a new addition to the 2028 rankings and recently earned his first offer last week from Georgia State.
