Christopher Scruggs comes over from North Penn and replaces Boyd Skarbek. Filling the Skarbek shoes, a back who placed inside the top 150 among his 2024 peers, is a task too large for most. Scruggs has the talent and carry capacity to replicate some of what Skarbek provided PJP2 in years past. A chiseled-out 175-pound frame, stands at 5’9″, Scruggs’ junior tape actually begins with him flexing his abilities at corner. I expect Scruggs to make an immediate impact at back, yet it’s worth noting that the young man is a starting quality DB who can play on an island outside the numbers. There is no other DB mentioned in this piece unless you count Braden Reed Braden Reed 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Pope John Paul II | 2025 State PA ‘s two-way abilities or junior Joey Digiacomo Joey Digiacomo 6'0" | 165 lbs | ATH Pope John Paul II | 2026 PA . Scruggs could very well start both ways for this football team. Experience running between the tackles, experience running routes while being split out, experience at corner, I don’t think enough is made of this acquisition. PJP2 saw some phenomenal 2024s leave for next-level ball, bringing in a kid who can affect all three phases of the game might prove an invaluable move. Scruggs has performed well at our PRZ showcases, I’ve also seen Scruggs play live on more than one occasion.

Chris Scruggs was one of the most outstanding running backs at the showcase. He stood out at all the drills and did a nice job during individual drills. Scruggs showed that he can catch the ball out of the backfield well. He has excellent hands. Scruggs is a talented running back with a bright future.

Really like the way Scruggs hits the hole and I expect him to have a major impact for North Penn this fall. Scruggs is a shift back with great vision who will be a weapon at multiple positions for the Knights. This kid’s game is ascending and he is starting to attract the attention of numerous FCS and FBS level schools across the East coast. Should be fun to watch him in person next week, I expect him to put on a show.
