Spence has balled out all season, and will continue in these playoffs. The 5’10 170-pound WR/DB has 48 carries for 741 yards and 7 touchdowns, with 9 carries for 55 yards and 1 touchdown, 26 total tackles (16 solo, 10 assisted), 2.5 TFL, 2 PD, 2 INT (both for TDs), 233 total kick/punt return yards. Spence has very good athletic ability due to elite change of direction, very good balance, speed, and acceleration. Very good release against both off coverage and press jam. Uses good strength to fight the jam, and break into his route. Crisp route running skills with very good separation quickness. Very good body control and adjustment. He’ll contort his body to make the tough catch, and keep his feet in bounds on sidelines. Spence is a great defensive back. Very good zone coverage and man. He has a smooth and controlled back pedal, and fluid hips to match the receiver and stay stride for stride with them. Spence is a beast, and he’s just getting started in these playoffs.

Spence is a versatile offensive weapon who had a breakout campaign with 1,658 all-purpose yards and 27 total touchdowns. Having the ability to line up in the backfield or splitting out wide, Spence creates matchup nightmares. His ability to run crisp routes and contribute as a pass catcher out of the backfield separates him from traditional backs. With offers from Cornell, Kent State, and Colorado School of Mines, he’s already drawing attention, but his camp performances have positioned him for a major leap. If he builds on last year’s production, more Division 1 programs will take notice of this electric playmaker.

Spence has been getting a lot of love from Prep Redzone recently, and it is well deserved. We have gone over his evaluations in previous posts; however, I couldn’t leave his performance off this list. At one point in the game, the entire offense was getting run through Cash. He was under center passing it, or rushing it. He came down with 5 receptions for 85 yards. Keep your eyes on Cash.

Spence was one of the standout guys on the Mile High Prep spring team and has been turning heads this summer as well.
