One thing that I absolutely love about Cartier Canady Cartier Canady 5'9" | 190 lbs | ATH DePaul Catholic | 2026 VA is that he advertises himself as a nickel, a thing I do not see much of. Cover skills aside, Canady is a a threat off the edge as well which is aided by his superb tackling skills. On the same token, we see him bend the corner on the backside well and can play the run to his side well. Canady’s hips flip very well and he is explosive, turning and running, having the makeup speed to cover ground when he is rubbed. If he is truly 190lbs, plays, and moves like he does, he will be instantly in the conversation to start at the star position in college.

Cartier Canady Cartier Canady 5'9" | 190 lbs | ATH DePaul Catholic | 2026 VA is a rare talent. As a linebacker in 2022 Cartier was found up near the line or lined up at the middle linebacker position. Cartier has great size for a freshman; it was very hard to distinguish him from the upper classmen since he played with great size and speed. Cartier is an aggressive tackler, he makes you think twice about running the ball his direction. With great reaction time, Cartier is able to see the play develop in the backfield, shoot the hole, and get to the runner before the line realized what was coming.
Cartier is switching to strong safety in 2023, which is a position he will fit into extremely well. He attacks the ball whether it’s in a runner’s hands or in the air about to be caught. He is working towards becoming an elite safety, and he is sure to receive calls from some prominent D1 programs soon.

DePaul Catholic might have their own set of “bad boys” on their 2026 defense. We already introduced you to

. Although he lists himself as a DB on Twitter, all of the 5’9″ 190lb Canady’s high school highlights are at LB.
Canady seems to be the fastest, most explosive athlete on today’s list. When playing pass coverage he keeps his head on a swivel, looking for crack blocks and crossers alike. When rushing off the edge Canady seems simply unblockable. In the rare event he does get blocked, he knows to engage and get his hands on the offensive player so he has a chance to shed and pursue. Being such a young player, Canady will wait for a gap to open and then speed through it to make a tackle. Having just completed is freshman year and a position change, Canady will only get more comfortable making reads and taking read steps. Once this is more natural to him, expect Canady to be one of the top two-way LBs in the state by 2026.
With two big-time, highly reel defenders on the brink of playing varsity, points against DePaul Catholic’s defense will be tough to come by in future seasons. The only question left to answer is: between Canady and Davis, is who is Mike and who is Marcus?
