Expert Analysis
Austin Butler | Prep Redzone Scout
Brooks Braun was an outstanding quarterback with great height standing back there slinging the rock around the yard at Lakepoint in Cartersville, Georgia. He delivered the ball with precision and accuracy to his targets in a timely and consistent manner which automatically helped him standout during these competitive games. He would make deep passes look easy and short passes look same. He knew where he wanted to go with the ball and he made it very difficult for defenses to defend his passes. He set his receivers up in good position and not allowing the wide outs to waste their routes. He was really one of the top five quarterbacks that I watched all weekend.

Brooks Braun is one of the best arm talents of the weekend showcasing his ability to spread the ball around on every single route regardless of where it was being placed. Braun was a very confident thrower and wasn’t hesitant when delivering the ball. He was consistent each game and made sure all of his receivers were in position to make big plays for his team.

Braun, quarterback out of Bullitt County, put together a standout performance at the 2026 Battle of the Regions as a key piece of the Region 2 squad that captured the championship. Over the course of the weekend, Braun showed why he’s considered one of the more intriguing young signal-callers in his class, displaying poise, leadership, and command of the offense. His recognition as a 2025 KYMSFA 8th Grade D1 Regional Player of the Year Honorable Mention and participation in events like BOTR and Future Stars Game (FSG ‘24) reflect a player who continues to trend upward against strong competition.
The biggest upside to Braun is his accuracy and overall feel for the position. He consistently delivers a catchable ball and makes smart decisions. In addition to his arm talent, he brings functional mobility that adds another dimension, highlighted by his touchdown run in the BOTR championship game, where he used his legs to make a big-time play. With his combination of passing efficiency, athletic ability, and clear upside, Braun is a quarterback worth tracking as he continues to develop at the next level.

Braun turned in two great days at the BOTR tournament this year. He is a poised play caller who consistently demonstrates strong leadership and composure under pressure. Coming off an impressive season that earned him 2025 KYMSFA 8th Grade D1 Regional POY Honorable Mention honors, he operates in the offense with confidence, showing a clear understanding of reads and timing while delivering the ball with accuracy in the short to intermediate game. Braun’s mechanics and overall fundamentals are sound, giving him a reliable foundation to build on as he develops. While his arm talent is solid, continued improvement on his deep ball consistency will help elevate his game to the next level. Overall, Braun is a well-rounded quarterback with the tools and mindset to keep progressing.

Perhaps it’s a no-brainer to say, but the best teams typically have the best players at key positions — and that was the case with Region 2. The (now) back-to-back KYMSFA BOTR champs picked up a 16-0 win over an upset-minded Region 1 in the opening game before a gutsy 26-24 victory over Region 4 in the championship game.
In my opinion the best Quarterback on the field this weekend was

. There wasn’t a play hedidn’t make. On top of throwing some beautiful, accurate passes, I was impressed with his decision making. He tossed a TD pass on Saturday, but Braun also opened my eyes as to what he can do with his legs. He made a number of key plays by scrambling, highlighted by a touchdown run in the championship game.

Braun and the Dream Team had a solid weekend but caught fire on Sunday. When he got into a groove, they were hard to slow down. He put the ball in spots for his guys to go up and make a play. He had a few of the better throws on the weekend and can sling it down the field. He’s got a quick release and decent velocity for his age. He’s got decent touch and can drop it over the shoulder as well. He was consistent throughout and got better as the tournament went on.
