Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Pond is a two-way prospect playing LB/TE. He measures in at 6’1 215-pounds. Last season, he had 40 total tackles (23 solo, 17 assisted), 2 TFL, 1 sack, 2 PD, 12 receptions for 183 yards with 3 touchdowns. He has good athletic ability due to very good lateral quickness, change of direction, good speed, acceleration, and jumping. Good read and reaction speed. Pond uses his athleticism and lateral quickness to achieve good sideline to sideline range or into his zone. He’s a productive run stopper. When blitzing, he uses his good take off speed and gets low to out leverage the OL. Stuffs gaps and uses his tackling to wrap up ball carriers with ease. Pond has also shown to be a productive blocker on the offensive side. I’m intrigued to see how he does this off-season.
