Nickleberry measures in at 6’0 160-pounds. Last season, he had 30 total tackles (24 solo, 6 assisted), 2 INT, 1 PD, 1 FF, 5 KR for 147 yards with 1 KR TD, and 6 punt returns for 87 yards. He has good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, speed, good jumping, and acceleration. Good job jamming WR at the line of scrimmage and attempting to re-route as well. He has a smooth back pedal with a fluid torso to match WRs breaking off their stem. Very good man coverage sticking to the WR like glue. Good zone coverage. Good closing quickness and timing to create interceptions or pass breakups. Nickleberry has good tackling and will strip the ball to attempt or create fumbles. He’s an exciting prospect looking to continue to get better!

Nickleberry plays with an edge and relentless motor that immediately stands out on film. He does not hesitate to step downhill and deliver punishing hits on ball carriers, bringing tone setting energy to the secondary. Nickleberry finished with 30 total tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble, showing his ability to create momentum changing plays. His size and physicality translate well to special teams, adding another layer to his game as he took a kick return back for a touchdown. As he continues to polish his coverage skills and build on last season’s production, his stock should continue to rise. With sustained development, he has the potential to push into top 50 conversations.

Aundre Nickleberry has prototypical size for the CB position, with a thick lower half and solid length. He is willing to be physical in the run game and on PBUs. He shows a smooth transition out of his backpedal and reads through to the QB to break off and make plays after seeing the QB pull the pin. He’s got some good hips, showing a smooth baseball turn when he’s out-leveraged downfield. He has some speed also back deep on both return units with 1 TD on each this season. Aundre also has an advanced understanding of his responsibilities in various zone coverages only being a Soph. What sets him apart from an average recruit, to a high level recruit is his ability to consistently play the ball while in phase – he turns into a WR downfield with multiple INTs on the season. Such a high ceiling for Aundre, this offseason I’d like to see him continuing to get comfortable with his movement pattern (COD, backpedal) and developing his athleticism. If his testing numbers match up, I expect Aundre to be on FBS radars very soon.
