is still picking up offers with the latest coming from Bluefield University. Playing for Monticello this past fall, Rettig earned all conference honors. He is a force off the edge and has good size and length. Whomever lands his services, Rettig plays the game with high level of intelligence.

Good height and solid size, with room to add mass to his frame. Good athleticism displaying good acceleration, explosiveness, foot quickness, lateral agility, balance, change of direction, and hip fluidity, with solid foot speed, flexibility, and hand quickness. Very good up-field burst, displaying a very quick first step that gains depth, keeping good pad level. Good use of hands to engage offensive linemen and rip past them, showing solid bend to dip his shoulder to keep offensive linemen from grabbing him. Uses his good balance to keep his base with good lateral movement to keep good run defense. Good pass rushing with good acceleration to close on the QB and force distress on the throw. Overall, he is a good prospect who holds offers from UVA-Wise and Hampton-Sydney. Division II ball is his floor in my mind watching his film. Ended his senior season with 52 tackles, 7 TFLs, 5 sacks, 30 QB pressures, and 10 QB hits, forcing 1 fumble and recovering 1 fumble.

Brayden was living in Albemarle’s backfield all game and proved why he is a Top-20 ranked DL for us in the Class of ’25. He played a big role in affecting Albermale’s passing game that prevented them from answering any of Monticello’s scoring drives in the second half. While DL is his future, he also played very well on the offensive line. Anyone looking for a DL should consider Brayden.

is impressive off the edge both against the run and the pass, he is a tough block. An offer from UVA-Wise back in April are not doing this kid justice, he is 6’3 and still growing. Totaling 5 sacks as a junior, Rettig could easily double his sack total in 2024.

Domination is what I saw out of Brayden. He is perhaps the best player on Monticello’s roster and was clearly one of the top players at the combine. He did not lose one rep that I was watching and was going against some of the best offensive linemen at the combine. He has very quick initial steps and a combination of moves to get into the backfield.

Good height and solid size with good balance, bend, and lateral movement. Comes off the line with good pad level, and has good vision and reaction in his run/pass reads. He has good use of hands and strength to engage offensive linemen and keep them out of his chest and displays good lateral movement to make plays across the line of scrimmage with good pursuit to take down the ball carrier. He fits well in Monticello’s 30-front scheme as a defensive end and should be very productive for them in his senior season.
