About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Transitioning from a mobile quarterback to safety brings that same playmaking mentality to the defensive side of the ball. At safety, I bring a quarterback’s vision—reading offenses, anticipating routes, and recognizing formations before the snap. I play aggressively, attacking downhill, delivering solid tackles, and creating turnovers.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Instinctive, fearless, and relentless. I play with high energy, embraces pressure, and thrive in high-stakes moments. I have been described as a "high-motor competitor" and "football-smart."

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Lettered as a Freshman in Football, Member of the High School Track Team, Academic All-State, KYMSFA Division 2 Regional Player of the Year Honorable Mention, Starting QB KYMSFA Region 1 Battle of the Region, KY Middle School State Wrestling 138 lbs. 5th Place

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Leadership: Competing at a high level in both team and individual sports has shaped me into a leader who leads by example. Teamwork: I’ve learned how to communicate clearly, play my role, and support the team no matter the outcome. Resilience: I’ve learned to adjust my mindset and keep working—because effort makes the difference.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Emotional Letdown: After months of hard work, practices, and team bonding, my team fell short in the Middle School State Championship Football game. Individual Accountability: I wrestled in the Middle School State tournament and placed fifth at the 138 lbs. weight class. Mental Toughness: currently taking high school level courses in the 8th grade in preparation to challenge myself as a freshman.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a school where I can compete at a high level of football, but also get a great education. I want a program that develops players on and off the field, and a coaching staff that cares about helping me grow as a student-athlete and as a person.
