If AJ Irizarry AJ Irizarry 5'11" | 230 lbs | DL Paramus Catholic | 2027 State NJ was like 4 inches taller and maybe 10 pounds heavier, he would be pushing to be the top defensive lineman in the class. As a 3-tech, Irizarry fights reach blocks and controls his gap exceedingly well. Although he can get stifled on double teams, because of his consistently superior leverage, he is able to hold up offensive linemen. In a similar sense, Irizarry gets offensive lineman to play high due to his violent hands that he works above his eyes. Playing either a 0 or a 1/shade technique, he is quick enough to beat centers off the snap of the ball and strong enough to walk them backwards when they block back in gap scheme. When pass rushing Irizarry is an active mover and matches the quarterback’s hands well, deflecting many passes.
