Yesterday, we were treated to a phenomenal OAA Red vs. MAC Red matchup between West Bloomfield and Chippewa Valley. The game concluded with an electric game-winning drive from West Bloomfield, which was capped off by a 2-point conversion to win it. This article will outline the seven major offensive standouts that I saw!

QB | Reqez Nance Reqez Nance 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI | Hudl
Nance is a Quarterback who has all the tools to be great, though he’s known for making silly mistakes in crucial moments. Although he did throw one bad interception, the rest of the game was fairly mistake-free, and the game-winning drive he led was legendary.
Overall, Nance did well. I was generally very impressed by his accuracy. Frankly, he had a few throws that his receiver should have caught. I don’t think Nance threw an incompletion until the 3rd-quarter. That said, his first-half performance was great. Later in the game, Nance started playing too fast and forced a few balls. He began scrambling when the pocket was clean, and he missed open receivers on a few plays. Overall, that’s the biggest thing Nance has got to fix. He has a tendency to be overloaded and play too fast. The game-winning drive was a completely different story. Although he still wouldn’t remain in the pocket, Nance had a few sensational runs with a few amazing throws on the run in critical 3rd downs. Watch the play below as he throws a perfect ball to his tight end. If the TE would have kept running full speed, that’s a TD. Perfect throw.
I can understand why Nance hasn’t received many college opportunities because of his obvious flaws. The Reqez Nance Reqez Nance 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI I watched last night had Division 1 upside in him. Clean up his flaws, and you’ve got Kylar Murray.
WR | Elisha Durham Elisha Durham 6'1" | 150 lbs | WR West Bloomfield | 2025 State MI | Hudl
Overall I thought the Chip Valley secondary did well against the talented West Bloomfield Defense. The only receiver who was consistently getting open down the field was Elisha Durham Elisha Durham 6'1" | 150 lbs | WR West Bloomfield | 2025 State MI . With his long stride, Durham was able to consistently get a step on his opposing DB, and he racked up a ton of yards and TDs on the day. Elisha excelled as a deep threat for West Bloomfield, and it’s obvious that he has excellent chemistry with Nance and the rest of the offense. Elisha already has several Division 1 offers from the MAC, but don’t be shocked if he gets Power 5 attention by season’s end.
The Entire O-Line
I was impressed by what I saw from the West Bloomfield offensive line, especially on passing downs. Granted, CV usually only rushed 3, but they didn’t plan to have near zero pass rush. If I had to shout one man out on the WB O-Line, it would be Center Jamel Jackson. Pressure up the middle was completely nonexistent, and there was a designed QB Draw on the game-winning drive where Jackson held the key block to free up space up the middle.
QB | Andrew Schuster Andrew Schuster 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Chippewa Valley | 2024 State MI | Hudl
After a phenomenal offseason in which he committed to GVSU, Andrew played great against West Bloomfield. Outside of the statline, Andrew didn’t have any turnover-worthy plays, and every throw was timed well and accurate. Also outside the statline, Andrew stood in the pocket and got the ball out very quickly. It’s obvious that he has a great understanding of the offense and his reads. Great timing, zip, accuracy, and he did everything asked of him. A perfect performance? No, but he definitely played well enough to win.
RB | Caleb Fowlkes Caleb Fowlkes 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Chippewa Valley | 2025 MI | Hudl
Caleb is the only standout on this list that I didn’t know about before. Man, there’s a lot to love about Caleb’s game! First off, he ran each play to textbook perfection. He ran through all of the designed holes, and commanded his way north and south getting as many yards as he could as quickly as he could. In addition, Caleb displayed phenomenal balance after contact. I can’t tell you how many times he was hit hard by a linebacker where he then absorbed the hit and kept going. Caleb earned multiple first-downs from his yards after contact.
My one big-ish negative is in regard to his vision. As I said, he ran each play of textbook perfection, but there were multiple instances where one quick cut would have went for 6. Another negative was his pass blocking.
ATH | Cash Shaw Cash Shaw 5'11" | 150 lbs | RB Chippewa Valley | 2024 State MI | Hudl
I didn’t expect Cash to be as great of a short-yardage running back. His stat line is excellent, as he had two touchdowns with several other great carries. He was a great blocker and ballcarrier when CV opted for Wing-T offense at the goalline.
ATH | Deshaun Lanier Deshaun Lanier 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Chippewa Valley | 2025 State MI | Hudl
Lanier showed why he’s a Power 5 recruit. He showed solid hands, and amazing route-running. Look no further than his goalline whip-route, capping off a 95-yard drive by Chippewa Valley. I look forward to seeing more explosive plays this season!
