Tied with Buttles was Maryland’s own Jackson Rice. Rice was a name who came in underrated and was quietly impressive throughout the day. The 6’4″ 195-Pound Prospect, was impressive on his throws, and delivered accurate quick strikes with impressive placement to the pylons of the end zone. Rice is a name who arguably had one of the best days in Votee Park this past weekend.

During the 2025 season, Rice completed 127-of-228 passes for 1,281 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
Rice is a big-framed quarterback who plays with good calmness and control. At 6-4, 205, he already looks the part physically. He’s comfortable operating out of RPO looks and shotgun concepts. He doesn’t look rushed, and he lets plays develop instead of forcing things.
He stays steady when pressure shows up. There’s a rep where heat is coming off both edges, and he doesn’t panic. He keeps his eyes downfield and delivers the ball on a post-play downfield. The ball could’ve been led a little more, but the fact that he stayed in there and gave his guy a chance stands out.
Rice does a nice job putting the ball where it needs to be. The comeback to the right sideline is a good example. Jackson throws the football to the outside shoulder, a safe throw, only his receiver can get it. There’s another play where the tight end shot down the hash, and he drops the pass right over the linebacker’s head and into his teammate’s hands.
He’s not a run-around QB, but he moves well enough. There’s a play where he avoids a sack and runs for a few yards. Jackson isn’t looking to run very much. I do think he can work on being a little more mobile when it comes to using his legs to pick up yardage
Jackson’s got solid arm talent, especially when his base is right. The deep ball where he hits the receiver in stride (in his highlights) shows he can push it downfield. At times, the ball could come out with more juice, especially on sideline throws, and when he leans back or throws off his back foot. The passes end up floating a little bit.
He’s at his best when he’s able to get a rhythm. Jackson shows flashes of touch and timing. Cleaning up a few mechanical things will help him improve as a multi-level passer.

is a cerebral, highly accurate quarterback who thrives from the pocket with next-level ball placement and timing. Whether layering throws over defenders or leading receivers into open space, Rice consistently delivers catchable passes that allow his playmakers to operate in stride.
Rice currently holds one Division I offer from Sacramento State, but with his résumé and skill set, more interest is likely on the horizon as his senior season unfolds.

Rice has an offer from Sacramento State. He completed 103-of-181 passes for 1,254 yards, nine touchdowns, and seven interceptions last season.
What I’m looking to see from him this upcoming season: I think he’s strong in the short-to-mid-range passing game. I’d like to see Rice push the ball downfield a little more. I’d also like to see him improve his touchdown-to-interception ratio. In his defense, there were six games last season where he attempted 15-plus passes. He was battle-tested last season, and I expect him to learn from those lessons and come into this season as a quarterback ready to take that next step.

A QB with impressive size at 6’4″ 205lbs with a great frame the will continue to fill out well and solid arm length well. Jackson has the physical traits you like to see from a QB. With a strong arm, Jackson gets plenty of velocity behind his passes. On deep balls he can push it vertically and gets good air and touch on the ball to let his receiver run under it. For short to intermediate throws, Jackson is able to quickly read the field and get the ball out to his playmakers with good timing/anticipation on the throw. One thing I’ve seen from Jackson all year, as well as on Sunday, is that he throws a very catchable ball. He will put the ball in the best spot for his WR to make the catch and keeping it away from the defender. Another of Jackson’s strengths is he is a great thrower on the run. Extending the play and finding the open WR or perfectly running QB rollout, sprint out plays. Jackson currently holds an offer from Sac. State and will be QB plenty of colleges will want to see junior film on after this fall.

Rice Emerging as Offensive Leader for the Falcons
Rice led the Falcons to an impressive 3-1 record in WCAC play this season and a berth in the WCAC Championship game. The rising quarterback threw for 1,254 yards.
His standout performance came against Pennsylvania powerhouse St. Joseph’s Prep, where he threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to rise to the occasion against top-tier competition.
Rice consistently demonstrates accuracy and touch, often placing the ball perfectly over defenders. He’s equally effective on the move, delivering precise throws on rollouts and designed bootlegs.
So far, Rice has earned his first Division I offer from Sacramento State University, with more expected to follow as his profile continues to grow. With the Falcons reloading and several underclassmen stepping into larger roles, Rice will have the opportunity to develop new playmakers around him. Expect him to take another leap next season as he continues to air it out in what could be a breakout year.

Jackson is a QB with all the physical tools to be a dominate player. Built like a LB, he is all of 6’4″ 205lbs he is a tough QB to get to the ground.
With a strong arm, he can push it deep and add some good velocity. As well as getting good air and touch on his passes to drop it in on the receiver. Jackson shows the ability to throw a nice catchable ball and puts in spots where only his WR can make a play on the ball. He is also very productive in the roll out game, throwing well on the run and able to move the pocket. A QB who has the size arm and plenty of tools, Jackson has a ton of upside as he continues to develop his arm and throwing mechanics.

Rice finished the game having completed 8-of-15 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns against St. John’s College. He connected with wide receiver DaMarion Fowkles for two long touchdown passes (71 and 77 yards). Granted, Fowkles did most of the legwork on both plays, but Rice showed patience in letting the route develop and caught Fowkles perfectly in stride. Those two scores in the third quarter helped Good Counsel pull away in a game that was closer than what the final score indicated. Rice’s strong second-half included a third-touchdown pass, for 12 yards, to talented tight end Rowen Walsh Rowen Walsh 6'5" | 225 lbs | TE Good Counsel | 2026 State MD (West Virginia and Memphis offers). When you think of a Quarterback, Jackson looks the part and has the arm to match. Right away I liked how he delivered the ball to his receivers from different angles. He picked up quickly who he could hang his throws deep to, trusting they will run under it or when to put it on them in a timing route. When its all said and done, Jackson will have some good choices to continue his career past high school.

When looking at film on another player from Maryland, I couldn’t help but notice the big 6-foot-2 Quarterback for the Bowie Bulldogs. At 6-foot-2 Rice does a nice job of reading the field and distributing the ball into the hands of his plethora of playmakers. Something that really stuck out to me pretty quickly in watching clips, is his advanced understanding of when to put some mustard on the ball vis-a-vis putting air under it and letting his guys go run and get it. Pocket passer with a strong arm, but athletic enough to move around if need be. Reminds me a bit of former 17-year NFL vet Phillip Rivers in that respect. Also a talented basketball player, when not lighting up defenses on the gridiron.
