Behind the Rankings: 2024 Quarterbacks

<!-- wp:paragraph {"style":{"typography":{"fontSize":"15px"}}} --> <p style="font-size:15px">The 2022 high school football season is in full swing and we have released our initial player rankings for the state of Kentucky. Now that I have covered the class of 2023, I will now turn my attention to the top incoming junior prospects in Kentucky. Over the next few weeks, I will do positional breakdowns and discuss how our rankings came to be. To start things off, I will focus on arguably the most important position on the field. With that being said, here are our top quarterbacks in the class of 2024.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"id":"block_6317f25171a40","name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["313643"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='313643' first='Cole' last='Hodge'] is the most complete quarterback in the state of Kentucky in the class of 2024. He is coming off a very impressive sophomore year in which he completed 139/217 passes for 2,101 yards and 28 touchdowns while also rushing for 527 yards and eight touchdowns. This earned Hodge First Team All-District honors. He has an incredible arm with the ability to throw the ball down the field and lead his receivers away from defensive backs. Hodge also has impressive accuracy and has shown the ability to make throws on the run when under pressure. As a ball carrier, Hodge has the speed and elusiveness in the open field to pick up big plays on the ground. Cole currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky and Central Michigan, and I expect that list to expand as he has been receiving a ton of interest and is a true Division 1 talent at quarterback.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["392838"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='392838' first='Trenton' last='Cutwright'] is a player that jumped out onto my radar this summer. Cutwright has incredible arm talent with the ability to make throws on the run, even across his body. He also has a great amount of touch on his deep passes, launching the ball down the field and putting it only where his receiver can get to it. While he is great as a passer, Trenton is also very impressive in the run game. He has the ability to tuck the ball and burst into the open field for a big play at any given moment. Cutwright has the speed to run away from a defense but also has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. Trenton is also a very talented baseball and basketball player so it remains to be seen which sport he plays at the next level but he definitely has the skill set to be a very good college quarterback.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["381922"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='381922' first='Zane' last='Cartwright'] is a quarterback that has had a very successful high school career so far. He had an incredible sophomore campaign, completing 68% of his passes for 2,225 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. Cartwright truly impresses me in the intermediate passing game as he is able to put a ton of zip on his passes to fit balls into tight coverage. He also is reliable in the deep passing game, showing solid arm strength with the ability to hit his receivers in stride down the field. Cartwright also has very good pocket awareness and mobility, showing the ability to feel the pressure coming and step up in the pocket as needed while keeping his eyes down the field to deliver the pass. After coming off a tremendous sophomore season, he is off to a hot start once again as a junior. Osborne has a tremendous ability to escape pressure and create plays when protection breaks down, whether it's making throws on the run or taking off as a ball carrier. He also has a very strong arm and has shown the ability to fit passes into tight windows. Russ has the speed and elusiveness to pose as a huge threat on the ground as well. Witherington came onto the varsity scene last year as a sophomore, completing 160/275 passes for 1,700 yards and 13 touchdowns. I love the amount of touch that he puts on his passes in the deep passing game, placing the ball perfectly where his receiver can run under it in stride down the field. He also has impressive accuracy in the short and intermediate passing game and is able to place balls into tight coverage where only his receiver can get it.
