, a quarterback at Perry County Central High School. What I like about Slone’s playstyle is his size, speed and ability to get the ball into the hands of his receivers before the defense makes contact. Slone’s precise decision-making and ability to spot open receivers in the backfield also made a difference last season, showing off his composure under center as well as his explosiveness in the air.Access all of Prep Redzone

The generational trend for quarterbacks in Football has been the necessity for dual-threat ability on the field. Not only does

meet those expectations but performs them exceedingly well. The Perry County junior is excellent at read option plays and escaping the pressure coming out of the pocket to make positive yardage plays. Slone also has a strong arm to be able to sling it 30+ yards out to his receivers with little lower body leverage needed. Slone is also good at fooling the defenders with his pump fake throws and shifty footwork when running with the ball. Although his 2022 season stats were not the greatest compared to other top-ranked quarterbacks in his state 4a division, Kizer has all the talent and athleticism there to become a top-tier quarterback in both his division class and state recruiting class. Kizer currently has camp interest from schools but nothing further than that. During or after his 2023 senior season, I expect offers to begin rolling around for the talented dual-threat QB.

A big, physically mature and athletic competitor, Slone started all 10 games for his Commodores in 2022, completing 121 of 225 passing attempts for 1,672 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air. In addition, he gained 289 yards rushing on 66 carries and another 7 scores on the ground. Equally comfortable and effective whether receiving the snap under center or in the shotgun, his versatile skill set makes him adaptable to a variety of offensive systems/philosophies, and while predetermined quarterback runs have not comprised a large proportion of the offensive calls he executes, they do prove to be largely successful and likely could become more common alternatives if/when needed. One facet of his current game that likely warrants attention–interceptions and the choices that lead to them–will certainly improve with additional reps and experience, so all indications for a successful senior season are strong.
