On the back end of the defense was safety Nevin Poppy Nevin Poppy 6'4" | 200 lbs | DB D.C. Everest | 2025 WI . The senior has a long, lean frame at 6’4″ 185 lbs, but that frame was packing a punch throughout the night. Over over over the senior did a great job of reading run and attacking to fill the lane. He made several one on one tackles in space and delivered big shots on several occasions. Poppy’s instincts and range got him in position to help against the Cardinal run game, especially the outside run game. The senior also was used in man coverage as a CB throughout the night too and his wide wingspan gave him the ability to recover if ever caught out of position. Nevin did well against the run and pass Friday night showing a well rounded game.

Kevin put together a great Week 2 on special teams and defense. The big play DB/KR averaged 33 yards per return on 3 returns, setting up the offense to control to pour on the points like they did. Nevin has a big frame with plenty of athleticism. Those two paired together to allow him to deliver big hits on defense. That culminated in the highlights on a hit where he exploded through the receiver, and sending the kid’s helmet popping off. The senior has excellent range that allowed him to make the INT in zone coverage at the end of the half also. Nevin did a great job of running the route for the receiver and making the over the shoulder catch. It looks like Poppy recently came over from Chanhassen in MN, so he is a new, talented 2025 prospect to get to know.
