PrepRedzoneMN's highlight of the whirlwind that is the Summer Camp SZN is Bemidji State's War on the Shore team camps. Minnesota heavy with a sprinkle of Dakotas flavor mixed in, the Beavers host a small school (MN 3A and below) team camp, then a Big School (MN 4A-6A) team camp, with the latter coming last week up in the beautiful 218. After a dayish of full team, skelly, and some individual work, the 15+ team camps culminate with the War on the Shore competition, held nearly right on the shore of the gorgeous Lake Bemidji. Double elimination and three downs to get in the endzone, the competition creates legendary individual performances, insight into a Big School team's makeup and grit, and one of the most riveting two hours of football we watch all year. This past week, Shakopee, nearly overwight with individual talent on their 2026 roster, were handed an "L" early at the hands of an ultra-gritty Simley 4A squad, but the Sabers then battled all the way back, going undefeated before the head-to-head finals with Forest Lake, which culminated in a War on the Shore-winning TD rush from Northwestern Wildcat commit [player_tooltip player_id='1669604' first='Blake' last='Loughlin']. What a time to be alive!

We're kicking off the 2026 Bemidji State War on the Shore Team Camp's All-Offensive Squad with the best overall football player from the multi-day event. [player_tooltip player_id='1669604' first='Blake' last='Loughlin'], a 6'3, 220 lb. LB and RB for the 6A Shakopee Sabers, also happens to be one of the best prospects in attendance, as he's committed to the Northwestern Wildcats to play linebacker in the B1G at the next level, but for now, PRZMN got to enjoy his utility and flat-out physical dominance with his high school teammates. First off, the play speed on Loughlin was tremendous. True sideline-to-sideline run defender with great coverage ability to boot, and he was a hammer and a very consistent producer and presence from the middle of Shako's defense. Yes, Loughlin looked good throughout the various team scrimmages, mixers, and skelly competition, but this kid turned the dial up to 11 during the vaunted War on the Shore competition to end the camp, but excitingly, his best work came on the offensive side of the ball as a RB.

Shakopee ended up reverting to their traditional triple-option/veer attack from last season when the lights were the brightest, and Louglin made sure to take full advantage of the opportunity, turning into a runaway freight train with the ball in-hand that no single defender or defense could seem to stop. Loughlin was eating and working through tackle attempts like a ATV working through underbrush, and you could hear the collision mid-rep, think "no way that RB is still upright", and then up comes Loughlin, pumping those legs like nothing happened and into the endzone. He was unstoppable goal line back, producing a FB dive TD against Simley very late in War on the Shore, and he could easily break multiple tackle attempts in a single carry, bouncing would-be tacklers off his lower body with ease. Loughlin ended up scoring the walk-off, game-winning TD against Forest Lake to crown his Sabers the champions of the 2026 Big School War on the Shore. Additionally, as a LB, the NUFB Family commit was a TFL machine, filling gaps with speed and ferocity, showing off his impressive closing speed, and generally taking great flow/path to the ball while showing he can mirror tailbacks as he dropped and broke down his hips, and closed with authoritative physicality on a Maple Grove toss. Stuck a Burnsville RB between the tackles in a beautiful 1v1 stick in the box that we remember very clearly as well.

It's now been back to back years that Simely's QB1 [player_tooltip player_id='1120523' first='Christian' last='Urbina'] has torn up the Bemidji State Big School Team Camp. Leading his 4A Spartans against a buzzsaw of 5A and 6A competition, Urbina was the most consistent quarterback throughout the camp and through almost every team setting that we saw, with a particularly strong showing during War on the Shore that was no doubt influenced by his large body of varsity experience going into his senior year. Urbina led his Spartans to an upset win over 6A state title contender Shakopee during pool play, one of the highlights of the competition, and he also engineered a near-upset of Maple Grove later in the win-or-go-home elimination portion of the event.

His consistency, clutchness, ball placement ability, and connection with his returning receiver talent were all on beautiful display during the War on the Shore, as was his ability to extend plays with his legs and deliver accurate throws on the move and outside the pocket. He fit the ball into some very tight windows during War on the Shore and made a great throw in between two LBs that his late-spilling TE wasn't even expecting him to be able to pull off that also left an impression in our mind. The biggest throws, however, were to [player_tooltip player_id='1581372' first='Justin' last='Runge'] on TD throws in the back of the endzone, where he placed the bal perfectly on top of the DB, where only his receiver would be able to elevate and climb the ladder, not to mention put the rock just enough inbounds for his wideout to toe tap himself in front of the line. I really like how this kid projects to the MIAC or a similarly-competitive D3.

There were some impressively-hyped prospects going into the Bemidji State, especially from the talented Shakopee 2026 roster. However, Rogers-turned-Maple Grove High School rising junior gunslinger Graham Greseth was up there with the top dogs in terms of buzz thanks to a big, tall, traditional build for a pocket passer, a rocket of an arm, and some important in-person showings and success under his belt from a scouting standout.

This was the his first time playing live, fully-padded, full contact with a very fresh-faced, new look Maple Grove, so keep that in mind in terms of context, but Greseth was still up and down from what PRZMN saw from Wednesday's action up at the War on the Shore. However, that arm of his sure pops, and he produced a big-time throw during War on the Shore, but the best throw of competition in fact. Against Simley, Greseth rolled out left, scanned his options, delivered a strike into the endzone and nearly straight up vertically across his body, putting the ball on a dot. Really showed off the arm strength and precision well. I'm not looking too deeply into this first-time look with the Crimson for Greseth. It's all about getting comfortable and there's a lot getting thrown at him right now before fall camp has even started.

A new name to the PRZMN radar and a returning starter for 5A Metro competitor Burnsville, 2027 QB [player_tooltip player_id='2255206' first='Liam' last='Henke'] had, in our opinion, a good showing at the Bemidji State Big School Team Camp. This includes the vaunted War on the Shore, where Henke produced some of the most eye-catching throws and completions of the evening. The Burnsville QB proved he can climb the pocket instinctively to avoid pressure and is an excellent improviser with the athleticism to move the chains and churn out chunk yardage plays with his legs, not to mention find the endzone, which he did during War on the Shore against Holy Angels for a tuddy. He also popped off one of the best tosses of the entire competition on a zippy, very impressive, well-timed TD throw to Subah vs. Princeton for a TD. It was an absolute dart of a deep out route right to the front pylon of the endzone, perfectly on time to [player_tooltip player_id='1288386' first='Tommy' last='Subah'] coming right out of his break. I'm higher than most on Burnsville going into the fall.

The Rangers have one of the most electric tailbacks in all of Minnesota this fall in [player_tooltip player_id='1289874' first='Mack' last='Jurkovich'], which will take some pressure off #1 Sanchez, but any offense has to be multi-faceted, especially at the Big School level, so Sanchez will see his name called early and often as a senior. There were some period and mixers where Sanchez was straight-up slingin' it, and he was displaying timing from pocket, the ability to extend plays and improvise, and make on time, accurate throws outside of the pocket. Sanchez was delivering strikes from the pocket with pressure bearing down on him. Sleek mover, athlete, and facilitator as well.

At a physically impressive 6'2, 220ish and playing both RB and EDGE for Princeton, Johnson came in and immediately began putting pressure on defenses and churning out big gains for his offense. Behind his no-glove aesthetic and cut-up, muscle-bound physique, Johnson was a physical slasher with absurd contact balance and excellent vision. Johnson was seeing the cutback well all competition long and also making a disruptive impact from his EDGE spot.
Burnsville RB #7 [player_tooltip player_id='2255205' first='Eric' last='Quansah'] was a new name to the PRZMN radar that came to our attention at the BSU War on the Shore Team Camp. Forget the QB positional mark, this kid as RB written all over him, and he was a twitchy tailback with good burst and some solid vision that resulted in a jittery, vertical running style that was pumping out good gains behind his OL.

One of the pound-for-pound toughest competitors, not to mention biggest producers, from the 2026 Bemidij State Big School Team Camp goes to RJM's [player_tooltip player_id='1665848' first='Angel' last='Felix']. A physical and fearless RB/OLB combo, Felix was bringing the boom during both scrimmages/mixers and War on the Shore, and he proved himself to be an excellent 1v1 tackler in space as well as a gritty tailback who can rise up to the challenge of even 6A opponents and competitors. Felix produced a big-time tackle out on the edge against Benilde during War on the Shore that was one of the better thumps of the evening, and the tough tailback was dragging Fargo South defenders for a near TD. Gets downhill quickly and is a tough tackling assignment when he gets a full head of steam behind him. Exciting acceleration and a naturally low center of gravity + good leg drive was producing big yields at BSU. Felix was an effective and productive goal line ball carrier who can get off that white line thanks to his natural pad level advantage and strong lower body, not to mention pension for physicality. Also took first carry off-tackle for a TD against BSM to open up the War on the Shore. D3s should be all over this kid.

The best overall WR at the 2026 Bemidji State War on the Shore Big School Team Camp came out of Burnsville High School and 2027 Minnesota-Duluth commit [player_tooltip player_id='1288386' first='Tommy' last='Subah']. Big, strong, verified athletic, Subah has a ton of experience under his belt and a strong offseason behind him, and he came in as the biggest playmaker for his 5A Blaze program in a tough, gritty Big School lineup that congregated at Bemidji State. From what we saw, Subah had an INT vs. Fargo South on an easy read/break on the ball, but he had one of the best overall plays and individual efforts during the touted War on the Shore competition. Subah ran a beautiful, concise, twitchy route to get open at the right pylon of the endzone, then snagged the rock behind a dart of a throw by his QB for one of the best pitches & catches we saw of the War on the Shore. Subah's route running was the best at the camp and will be a mighty asset during the upcoming 2026 fall season.

The single most impactful WR at the 2026 Bemidji State War on the Shore competition - in my mind - goes to Simley's [player_tooltip player_id='1581372' first='Justin' last='Runge']. A well-known WR out of the state's 2027 class, Runge made an outrageous TD catch to beat Shakopee during War on the Shore double-elimination pool play. Got wide open on a slant, climbed the ladder and floated up through the air to pluck the ball right out of the air, and finished the catch through a massive collision from none other than [player_tooltip player_id='212480' first='Blake' last='Betton'], ricocheting towards the sidelines but just managing to toe tap his way into a reception. Later, Runge then produced a head-tapping, float-through-the-air catch on what looked like a seam or skinny post that, when slowed down, looked like he got 3-4+ feet off the ground, then perfectly landing inbounds through the tight coverage of a helpless Maple Grove cornerback. The head-tapping vertical catch while fully extended had Runge once again showing off those ball skills, as he beautifully tracked down, leapt, and high-pointed a tough throw, after which he got his toes down on a beautiful display of body control. What a dazzling showing for the uncommitted Simley wideout.

Recent St. Thomas WR commit [player_tooltip player_id='1246911' first='Jaxon' last='Brown'] was the single most dangerous WR at the Bemidji State War on the Shore Big School Team Camp. Verified 4.5 speed is always useful, but Brown is also dynamic, a tremendous route runner, and fearless, especially with the ball in the air. He was burning DBs deep all throughout mixers and scrimmages with explosive ease, and his footwork throughout a route, not to mention as a utility ball-carrier and wingback-type of option in Shako's developing offense. Things culminated for Brown in one of the best catches of the War on the Shore competition in which Brown shut down suddenly and perfectly tracked/plucked the ball out of a small prep football window with two DBs bearing down on him with reckless abandon. Brown made the play with no problems. UST got a good one!

South Dakota State 2027 TE commit and verified 6'6er Jameson Smuda was out there playing SAF for his Zimmerman Thunder at the Bemidji State War on the Shore Team Camp, but he was also dynamic on the offensive side of the ball as a TE with some serious pass-catching upside and efficiency. The future Jackrabbit produced a head-tap 50/50 snag on Princeton DB for unreal individual highlight during a mixer/scrimmage, maybe the best catch of camp, and was a natural mismatch underused by Zim's offense during the camp. Smuda was also great from his safety spot as a defender, with natural coverage ability combined with overwhelming size and length. We saw him downfield and right in the hip pocket of a few streaking WRs more than a handful of times throughout competition. As a blocker, he also sealed the edge against a tough, D1-offered 2027 ATH for his RB in a clean and easy TD carry against Princeton during War on the Shore. SDSU got a good one!

P4/P2 size, length, frame, and I'm sure athleticism backing him, Fitzgerald was a bit fresh-faced and doe-eyed in his new Shakopee system and offense, an offense that is going a big upheaval from its veer-option days, and I believe that's important in context. However, the body control and ability to block effectively in space. Plus-length was useful in a variety of settings and types of blocks & situations. With the size to really make an impact against Big School opponents, Stay was a beast on both sides of the ball up in Bemidji and his already-healthy varsity experience and snaps going into his upperclassman campaign showed up well during the War on the Shore competition and various scrimmages and mixers. Stay has good balance and foot speed, noticeable pop at the point of attack, and a good balance and base. He's seen some big-time competition on the summer camp trail and has positioned himself well for a dominant junior & senior season. Big name to watch in the 2028 OL class.

Princeton's [player_tooltip player_id='1288296' first='Carson' last='Pruett'] has been written about maybe more than any 2027 in Minnesota, but gosh darnit, let's do it again. Pruett, who made some noise this summer as the best fullback PRZMN saw on our road-paving summer camp tour, but back with his 4A Princeton Tigers, Pruett was back at OL/DL, with a sprinkle of some HB mixed in. The kid is just a dang good football player. You can line him up anywhere, he's going to maul people and win 1v1 battles, and he's tough as nails and a great competitor. MSU-Moorhead offered on June 30th and Northern State offered on June 15th.

Burnsville's LT [player_tooltip player_id='1636574' first='Lincoln' last='Zilka'] has recently made the switch from DL to OT for the 2026 prep football season, and we couldn't be more excited. With a OT body and frame ready-made for the college ranks, PRZMN also is fond of Zilka thanks to a strong performance at the North Dakota State Prospect Camp #1 this June, wherein the new-to-the-position tackle was getting a ton of personal attention and work from NDSU Head Coach Tim Polasek during live 1v1s. Zilka was holding up well despite little reps at the position and with the footwork at that position, and we could see he had settled in better at the LT spot during Team Camp up with Bemidji State. PRZMN noticed that he did show some mobility and was asked to pull and swipe back across the LOS during War on the Shore. Can't wait to get some week to week film on this tackle during the fall.

Another player who PRZMN first discovered at the 2025 Bemidji State War on the Shore Team Camp, Zimmerman's [player_tooltip player_id='1752211' first='Devin' last='Cooke'] looks like he's had a good offseason. With noticeable beef, explosiveness, and strength added to his already solid frame, Cooke was out for blood during competition, and was getting off the ball with noticeable urgency, not to mention effectiveness at the contact point. One of the better pullers at the War on the Shore Team Camp and a must-know for local D3s and NAIAs on the hunt for 2027 OL.

Burnsville is looking to make some noise in 2026 after a tough debut to the 5A ranks last fall. From what PRZMN can tell, the Blaze have been putting in some work this offseason, and like any high school football program, the success of this coming 2026 campaign will start in the trenches. Luckily, the Blaze had one of the most interesting OL rooms (in terms of size and overall body types) of any Big School program in attendance at the War on the Shore camp. Their OT spots were manned by two mammoths, one of whom we all know well in [player_tooltip player_id='1636574' first='Lincoln' last='Zilka']. However, on the other side, hulking RT [player_tooltip player_id='2255203' first='Andrew' last='Turlington'] sure looked the part at 6'5, 330ish, and the mountain of a rising senior was a noticeably bruising run blocker with some decent bend for his size, from what we could gather. Didn't get to watch him much in particular during War on the Shore, but he's worth the price of admission alone if you're looking for 2027 OL sleepers, especially at the D3/NAIA/JUCO level.

#41 for Burnsville was one of the more versatile Big School OL we saw at the War on the Shore Team Camp up at Bemidji State, and he also sported one of the more interesting frames we saw from the near-dozen MN and ND competitors who made the trek to camp. Around 6'3, 230ish, Armando Espinal looked and played athletically along the OL, showing off active and effective hand usage in pass pro, notable foot speed, the strength to hold up and assert himself physically in both run and pass pro, and physicality at the point of attack. Played al over the OL but a lot at RT from what PRZMN saw. Definite sleeper in the 2027 OL class.

This past week, Shakopee, nearly overwight with individual talent on their 2026 roster, were handed an "L" early at the hands of an ultra-gritty Simley 4A squad, but the Sabers then battled all the way back, going undefeated before the head-to-head finals with Forest Lake, which culminated in a War on the Shore-winning TD rush from Northwestern Wildcat commit Blake LoughlinBlakeLoughlin
