We've been on the record that no player in the state made a bigger jump from 2023 to 2024 than Sand Springs quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='449993' first='Easton' last='Webb'] did last year. Webb was so polished as a quarterback that his production from a stat standpoint was off the charts when you compare it to his first two seasons combined. We watched his film from last season and got to check him out in person and he checked every box you're looking for. Now, the most interesting development with him as a prospect came in the last month. Since he was a freshman, Webb has been committed to Oklahoma State for baseball. He's also one of the top baseball prospects in the state. He reopened his recruitment as he started to get football offers rolling in following the spring. He's going to go into the 2025 football season as one of the top quarterbacks in Oklahoma.

Union cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='402381' first='Oliver' last='Smith'] is one of our favorite lockdown corners in this class and he should honestly get more credit than he does from a pure prospect standpoint. We've watched Smith in person during the season, in various 7v7 tournaments, in camp settings and on film. Simply put, he rarely gets beat. With the cornerback position, you have to have a player that can play with extreme confidence and Smith certainly has it. We're looking forward to seeing what Smith does this season as he's apart of a very talented Union secondary. This offseason, Smith's recruitment started to take off and it makes sense when you consider that his junior film started making the rounds. When we did this ranking update, he was a prospect that was a no brainer when it came to getting a significant jump up. He's solidified himself as one of the top corners in the state.

Southmoore defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1179993' first='Nakwaine' last='Carter'] was one of the more physically impressive prospects that we watched in person in the last month. At the Carl Albert team camp, Carter was an absolute menace on the line of scrimmage and demanded opposing offensive lines send two or even three guys at him. Carter has a high on-field IQ because even when a quarterback drops back and gets a clean pocket, Carter has his eyes in the backfield and can get his hands into the passing lane in the blink of an eye. So even when he's contained from a pure rusher standpoint, he finds a way to impact the game. Earlier this month, Carter gave his verbal commitment to Kansas. He's a legitimate power four prospect and his ceiling continues to get higher. We think he and the rest of this Southmoore team is primed for a big 2025 football season.

Choctaw quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='402379' first='Landon' last='Gatson'] has been a 2026 prospect that quite frankly, we haven't known what to do with for the last two years. As a sophomore, Gatson had his season cut short to an injury. Last season, he was used as a run-first quarterback as the Yellowjackets had an experienced starter returning at QB. But now, Gatson is ready to be THE guy in the Choctaw offense and the sky is the limit for what he can be this season. So when we rank the Choctaw signal caller, we're doing a lot of projecting because his ceiling as a prospect is incredibly high. Physically, he checks all the boxes and he showed last season he can be a serious threat as a runner. As a pure passer, not enough people around the state know about just how strong his arm is and they're about to find out this fall. This could be a huge season for the Choctaw signal caller.

Mustang safety [player_tooltip player_id='1332238' first='Tayten' last='Duncan'] really came into his own last season. Duncan emerged as a starter for the Broncos late in his sophomore season and then took a big step forward as a prospect last season. Now, he's getting ready for his third season as a starter and when you look at the Mustang defense on paper, specifically in the secondary, you see a group that could be pretty special this season. Duncan emerged as a legitimate D1 prospect and in the last week, he gave his commitment to Army. Duncan checks just about every box from a physicality standpoint and he was incredibly productive last season as a junior. Now, he looks to be the leader of a very talented secondary and when you're talking about Class 6A-1, you're talking about some of the best offenses in the state. So it'll be fun to watch how Duncan and company combat them.
