Defensive Recruit Standouts From The Hoosier Combine Series

We're taking a look at the defensive recruits who showed out at the combine this weekend!    Guidry showed out and left little doubt he belonged. He clocked the fastest 40s of the day at 4.79 and 4.82, and that burst translates straight to the field. He plays fast, reacts quickly, and feels well about where the ball is going. His instincts and ball skills are there, and he doesn't waste time getting to the play. He was one of the top performers today and looked the part from start to finis,h and I left impressed.     Meyer has a rare frame you don't see often at this stage, and there's a lot he can grow into. He's got twitch off the line and flashes tools that translate well up front. Still young and a bit raw, but the upside is obvious. He's the kind of prospect you bet on because the physical traits are already there, and the rest will come with reps and time.     Conover was steady throughout the day and showed he can hold his own inside. He's got fairly strong hands, wins head-to-head matchups, and knows how to disrupt the run game. He plays with aggression and doesn't back down from contact. There's a lot to like about how he handles himself in the trenches, and the effort never really dips.     Mattingly keeps a low profile, but his game speaks loud enough. He's got good range, moves well, and picks things up quickly. He's a solid athlete who doesn't need the spotlight to get the job done. The effort is there, and he continues to show signs of putting it all together. He strikes me as one of those guys who just quietly gets better every time you see him.     Fell has developed as much as anyone in the class. He went from a smaller, under-the-radar kid to a well-built, physically impressive athlete who makes plays on both sides. As a DB, he's reliable in coverage and doesn't bite on fakes. As a receiver, he's crisp, consistent, and knows how to get open. He's humble, works hard, and brings the same effort every rep. Quietly, he's turned himself into one of the more dependable pieces in the class.     Zupan looks the part and continues to build on his game. You can tell he's been putting in time in the weight room and filling out his frame the right way. He moves well, has good change of direction, and tracks the ball with confidence. There's still room to grow, but he's trending in the right direction and showing signs of becoming a well-rounded player.     Karaus plays with good range and has the vision to stay one step ahead of the play. He's physical, finishes tackles, and can slide between the second and third level without issue. Whether it's dropping back or coming downhill, he brings versatility and doesn't shy away from contact and I felt like gained a bunch of confidence seeing how well he stacks up.
