The first thing that caught my attention with Zupan is his explosive ability to stop and go. This easily translates to his ability to mirror receivers. When they get into their routes, he’s so in their pocket they have a hard time creating separation. Gus had a strong day. It’s easy to see why he’s ranked so highly ranked in the state rankings.
Zupan is a good athlete who has success on the outside. He’s got confidence as well and isn’t afraid of being left out on an island. He can play physically and fight for the ball in the air as well. He’s been fairly productive every week and seems to get better every week. He has 20 tackles at the midpoint of the season, with some good offenses to face still on the schedule.
Zupan looks the part and continues to build on his game. You can tell he’s been putting in time in the weight room and filling out his frame the right way. He moves well, has good change of direction, and tracks the ball with confidence. There’s still room to grow, but he’s trending in the right direction and showing signs of becoming a well-rounded player.
Zupan is a fast, high-motor player who’s still raw but shows flashes on both sides of the ball. He’s got the kind of speed that jumps out, whether he’s in the open field or closing space on defense. There’s still polish to add, but he seems like a quick learner and has the tools to grow into a versatile piece. He could develop into a real weapon wherever he settles in with more reps and I think he gets that opportunity in year 2.
