Wayzata's [player_tooltip player_id='1246911' first='Jaxon' last='Brown'] did double duty to get the most out of his Prepredzone.com Showcase experience. He was all over the one-on-one portion of the Showcase – likely one of the reasons he was selected as one of the Showcase MVPs.

"It was a great day," Brown said. "I have had faster days with my 40s, but the one-on-ones were good overall, and I got a lot of reps at both defensive back and wide receiver. I didn't know how many reps I would get on both sides, but I was happy with my reps."

Brown wanted to get some fresh eyes to get a look at his game.

"I have done a lot of private training," Brown said, "so to get to work with new people and get my name out in front of new people."

One of those new people gave Brown a technique the Trojan junior would work into his everyday technique.

"I went with the DBs for the coaching part of it. I was seeing a lot of double moves at the camp, and the defensive back coach stressed following hips – especially in the first ten yards."

In addition to returning punts and kicks, Brown spent most of his time on one side of the ball last season.

"I played mostly receiver last year. My strengths at receiver and as a returner are my speed and ability to make the first person miss," Brown explained. "I was out wide most of the time last year, but I think I will be in the slot next year. I lined up in the backfield some too."

Brown will rarely be taken off the field if all goes well this fall.

"This year, I will most likely play safety. As a freshman, I played both ways, and last year was my first year playing one way. I am good at sitting and waiting and then driving on the ball. Freshman year, I set the school freshman record in strips. I think my vision on the field is good."

Brown uses his athletic ability off the football field for a different audience.

"My mom owns a dance studio—I breakdance. I go to four or five breakdancing competitions a year."

Back on the football field, technique-wise, Brown has been focused on the offensive side of the ball.

"I have been working on my hands a lot – catching a lot of balls and working out with the school and doing seven-on-seven. I do some other training stuff with (former Gophers Tanner Morgan and Chris Autman-Bell) working on releases. In the spring, I am going to a couple of camps and will continue with my training every day."

Working with former Gophers' legends is not the only exposure for Brown to the Minnesota program.

"I have gone a lot of Minnesota Gophers' practices and an Iowa State practice. I have been invited to a lot of camps. Minnesota, Iowa State, and North Dakota State seem to be the most interested in me at this point."

As of now, Brown could be playing on either side of the ball in college.

"With Iowa State and Minnesota, I have been talking mostly with the receiver coaches. But Minnesota and NDSU have asked to see me on both sides of the ball."
