Now it’s time to take a look at the players who did not crack the top 60, but made the new watchlist.
Jacob Carlon Jacob Carlon 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Newport Harbor | 2024 State CA is already a really good two-way player for Newport Harbor who if the list was a top 100, would for sure be on there. He primarily is an outside backer/safety hybrid on the varsity level and had two interceptions, two forced fumbles and three sacks as a freshman. He played receiver on the freshman team early in the season and he overpowered freshman defensive backs. A lot of his highlight film is against the worst team in the Sunset League, but it’s impressive for him to make the plays he did as a freshman, no matter who the team played against.
Hoi Amasio-Hansen Hoi Amasio-Hansen 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Edison | 2024 State CA “Hoi” didn’t get any varsity action last season but his freshman film is impressive. He is an inside linebacker who reads offenses well and is an excellent tackler. He gets low, keeps his feet moving through contact and finishes plays. He would start and likely be a leading tackler on 90 percent of the teams in the county.
Josiah Lamarque Josiah Lamarque 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Newport Harbor | 2024 State CA made a huge impact as a freshman for Newport Harbor and was the team’s second leading receiver. He hauled in 22 catches for 436 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, he had an interception and two forced fumbles. His breakaway speed and ability to make plays after the catch make him difficult to stop. He can return kicks as well. Lamarque will only get better with more time in the weight room and Newport Harbor guys are always among the top in the county in strength.

Aliso Niguel used to always have quarterbacks throwing over 2,000 yards and Hunter Najm Hunter Najm 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Aliso Niguel | 2024 State CA may bring the Wolverines offense back to that level. He was dominant for their freshman team with his arm and his legs. He showed varsity level arm strength as a freshman and has receiver-type speed. He can excel in different styles and gives the coaching staff a wide variety of plays they can run. He is working with prestigious quarterback coaches and is generating some buzz.
