Peete gets to go into the off-season and his senior year with not just being Mr. Football but also our #PRZTN player of the year for the 2A ranks. The Bulldogs stud running back had a monster junior year where he finished 30 yards away from leading the entire state in rushing. Peete paced the 2A level with 2,235 yards on the ground along with 31 touchdowns while averaging 11.6 yards per carry. His play alone was a major reason behind the Bulldogs appearance in the 2A state title game last Fall. Peete will be back this Fall to make another run at top classification honors and look to bring Milan back to Chattanooga for another run at the title.

Throughout the entire 2024 season, Pickett III was nearly unstoppable for his Warriors offense where he did just about everything. This dynamic senior playmaker led his Marion Co. offense in total offensive yards where he rushed for 797 yards and 18 touchdowns while also handling business outside at receiver. Pickett produced 48 receptions on the year for 934 yards and 17 scores. He totaled 35 total touchdowns on the season, doing so in two different ways. His performance and play during the 2024 season was absolutely critical behind the team's Class 2A championship run. Pickett is also still available at the moment of writing this and I believe he would be a steal for whoever he signs with.

It was a tough call for our defensive MVP but I had to go with Robertson as the Tigers lineman had another highly productive season where he spent most of his time in the opposition's backfield. For his senior campaign, Robertson produced 100 total tackles on the year along with 27 tackles for loss and a staggering 28 sacks. Over the last two seasons at Mitchell, the Tigers edge rusher had produced a total of 60 sacks and led the state both years in this category. No matter what Robertson does going forward, he will go down as one of the best pass rushers of all-time here in the Volunteer State.

The Warriors possibly had the best defense from the 2A ranks this year with Scharber being their standout edge rusher that had his best high school season yet. Throughout the entire 2024 campaign, Scharber was a constant force in the backfield where he produced 79 total tackles with 26 of them for loss along with 3 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception and 11 sacks. The Warriors edge defender was a constant force from start to finish and a key reason behind the team's Class 2A state title. Scharber is also still available for the taking, so it will be interesting to see where he lands in college.

Coach of the Year

Frederick Copeland - Fairley

The Bulldogs had one of their better season's in recent history as the team went 12-1 overall and one game short of reaching the 2A title game. Coach Copeland led the charge by doing a good job of putting the right pieces in place to see his team succeed and put one of the top defensive units on the field from the 2A ranks. Fairley had a well balanced team with an explosive offense and a suffocating defense that shut out eight opponents. Winning their region and placing as a #1 seed, Coach Copeland and his staff kept their team focused throughout the entire year until they fell five points short to Milan in the semifinals. This is a well earned honor for Coach Copeland after a banner season for his Bulldogs program.

Positional MVP's

QB MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1422904' first='Kason' last='Young'] - East Robertson: This Mid-TN quarterback had to step up into a key playmaker role last Fall, taking over the lead dog role after an injury to the Indians running back. Young handled the role very well, producing 2,007 yards passing with 23 touchdowns while rushing for 650 yards and another six scores.

RB MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1557044' first='Brady' last='Warbritton'] - Huntingdon: Along with [player_tooltip player_id='222306' first='Gray' last='Eubanks'] in the Mustangs backfield, Warbritton was a bell cow back for his offense that brought steady and big play abilities to the field. This West TN ball carrier had a great senior year where he produced 1,927 yards rushing with 22 touchdowns and 9.7 yards per carry.

WR MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1103005' first='Corben' last='Reynolds'] - Loretto: Reynolds is a hidden gem on the 2A level that continued to boost his stock with a strong junior season. The Mustangs rising senior pass catcher was the team's top overall player where he caught 42 receptions for 801 yards and 12 touchdowns. Reynolds also scored three times rushing the football.

OL MVP: Hunter Gray - Westmoreland: The Eagles proved to be one of the top teams from the 2A classification with their offense and ground game leading the way. The offensive line and the play of Gray had a lot to do with the team's success last Fall and a key force behind going 13-3 and winning their region title.

DL MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1634136' first='Martavion' last='Pratcher'] - Mitchell: Pratcher put forth a breakthrough junior year where he combined with Robertson to give the Tigers one of the best D-line duos in the state. The big man in the middle stopped the run well while providing a pass rush. He produced 67 tackles on the year with 21 of them for loss along with 6 forced fumbles and 18 sacks.

DB MVP: Braden Reed - Tellico Plains: This East Tennessee defender was the Bears best overall athlete where Reed contributed in multiple ways, including on defense as he led the 2A ranks in interceptions at seven. Reed was a major factor last Fall behind the team's 7-5 record and playoff appearance.
