Trey is a great athlete whom I’ve seen up close a couple of times. He’s a very good cornerback and has made some plays against some very good receivers since being over at Cannon School. I think Trey’s strength is playing man coverage, and he plays with refined technique on the outside. I love to see how hard Trey continuously works at his craft to become the best player he can be, and that’s a trait that even some of the most talented players just don’t have. Trey had 3 interceptions last season, and he’s starting to get some well-deserved recruiting attention to come his way.

Trey had a strong season this past year for Cannon School, totaling 3 interceptions on the year to go along with 9 pass deflections. When you take a look at the film, Trey shows the ability to cover well in man coverage, showing very good long speed in single coverage against some talented wide receivers. Trey is patient in coverage, and he doesn’t panic being on an island by himself. Trey also shows good discipline in zone coverage and comes up to tackle well on skill players in space.

We didn’t have much major movement among our athletes, but Floyd was the one huge exception, as he jumped over 100 spots in the rankings. We like his versatility and his ball skills and think he could contribute on either side of the ball as a college player.

Trey has been one of my favorite players to see progress so far throughout his career. He recently made a decision to reclass into the 2027 class and attend Cannon School in Concord. Trey has been known primarily as a defensive back in his career so far, but he will play both DB and wide receiver, at Cannon. Trey is an athletic player who has shown impressive athleticism and agility on the defensive side of the ball, and I don’t have any doubt he will be a productive player on offense as well. Trey will have more time to physically develop, and give college programs more time to evaluate him as a prospect.

I had the pleasure of seeing Trey last month at a postseason showcase, and he really showed well there, being named a top performer overall. Trey does a great job of staying in phase with wide receivers in man coverage, and he has grown exponentially from when I saw him before the season physically. His team last season had a tough year, but seeing him at the showcase, Trey had a great attitude and wanted to continue to get reps every chance he could. Trey has had some recruiting attention, and he is a candidate to have a breakout season next year.
