Building the perfect HS RB recruit is going to require a lot of pieces and parts, but lucky for us we have a strong stable of talent to pick from. The perfect RB recruit is going to have size, power to push the pile or break tackles, speed to beat angles and create the big play, offers a receiving threat out of the backfield, has excellent instincts with the ball in his hands, and has that innate ability to make the highlight reel play look easy. That is just a few of the traits we will be taking and pouring into our perfect RB recruit. So let's get back into the lab and build this playmaker!

The best football players are usually the biggest, fastest, strongest ones. So as we try to build the "Perfect RB Recruit" we need to start with a big, strong frame. Grafton's [player_tooltip player_id='942613' first='Tommy' last='Lutz'] has one of the bigger frames in the state. The senior checks in at a strong 6'2" 210 lbs. That is exactly what we are looking for. The biggest frame possible that we can put the rest of the following traits inside of. Tommy is a need to know athlete in the senior class because of his talent and because he is still uncommitted. Get eyes on his tape.

Josiah is an RB with a wide variety of talents. He could have been slotted into a few of our spots in this article, and in the end I had to go with the power build. I love how Josiah runs the football. Every carry the senior runs angry and violent. He trusts his speed to break off the big play, but the second he needs to create yards or move the pile or go through a defender you see him flip the switch, drop his pads, and run his strong legs through the contact. He meets tacklers with violence and does his best to take the hit to them. We need our Perfect RB to run angry like Josiah does.

The northern WI playmaker was a quick choice when it came to who did we want to get our speed from for this RB build. Cooper has a second gear that is hard to find. When you turn on his highlights it is unfair for his opponents. Watching him quickly grow the gap between him and the defenders in pursuit is hard to believe. Cooper can get the edge on the defense and erases pursuit angles as safeties or corners try to chase him down across the field. Get this kid the ball with any sort of space and he is going to make the defense pay. That is the type of speed threat that we need from our Perfect RB Build. Duluth has a great one on the way.

This was another easy, must-have athlete when building our perfect RB recruit. With the ball in his hands, there isn't a tougher RB to try and contain. His combination of vision, speed, lateral agility, and short area acceleration give him the ability to get out of any situations where it looks like the defense might have him corralled. Siner is able to make guys miss, create space and then turn even the smallest glimpses of daylight into huge plays. His ability to create something out of nothing is a must have trait for this recruit build.

Damyias was another lock when I was thinking through the traits. What he did at State this year helped him lock up this spot. We need our Perfect RB to be able to fly out of the backfield and not only create space on underneath routes/checkdowns but also be able to take the top off the defense on wheel routes. Lopez is one of the best, if not the best at that in WI. Another reason we want our athlete to play like Damyias is his reliable hands as he reels in the over the shoulder catches or goes up and high points it with strong hands. The perfect RB recruit definitely needs to be a receiving threat like Damyias.

Another athlete who locked up this role with his State performance is [player_tooltip player_id='1180699' first='Christian' last='Collins']. He also locked it up with his week to week efforts. I don't believe there was an RB in WI who did a better job of reading his OL and the flow of the play while finding the lane to attack. Collins played patient, trusts his eyes and then attacks the hole without hesitation. That running style behind the line of scrimmage is a must for the top RBs, so that is what we need in our Perfect RB recruit. Collins does a great job of seeing the field and quickly understanding how to attack it, when to cutback, and where his blocks are at.

Kyle is a fun athlete to watch carry the ball. He creates a lot of his yards after contact. That is because of the balance he is able to maintain while absorbing and delivering hits and tackle attempts. Kyle has a low center of gravity that helps him keep his legs churning when he lowers his shoulder and also keeps him from getting knocked off center while running through arm tackles. Kyle has also shown that he can recover when he is pushed or hit into an awkward angle. All of that is needed while building out our Perfect RB, and that is why we want Kyle as a part of this.

In this category we needed an athlete who always makes it happen. Do we need a workhorse this week? Great because Tommy can handle 30+ carries. Do we need a back who can flip the field on a single carry? Tommy has you covered there. Do we need an RB who can carry the ball between the tackles with violence and also get the edge and win the race down the sideline? Novotny has tape showing he can do it. Tommy is able to deliver whatever is needed and make it look easy. That is the type of playmaker we need. A versatile athlete who can make the highlight reel play seem like just another carry. No Perfect RB recruit creation would be complete without the Marquette product.
