About Jamison

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Im a dual threat QB but my passion is scoring through the air. I love to run the ball too: trap, misdirection, option. I love to see my teammates score, it brings everyone together. If I could train every day for football I would.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am pretty focused person and gave up baseball to focus on football. I enjoy getting others out to run routes and train together. When the game is on the line, my world slows down. No fear, just fun. I have played in 3 state championships, winning one. I hate losing. We havent lost in 3 years. I very much look forward to what is next and I am excited to start the travel 7v7 season.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play AAU basketball on the Nike Made Hoops circuit. I am a starter for Royce White and Troy Hudson who both played in the NBA and push us very hard. I belong to Woodridge Church where I lead a youth group. I enjoy fishing, hunting and water sports.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through football, I have developed an ability to pickup my team when someone is down. After every score, I head to the sideline and try to get my guys smiling and enjoying the moment. I also want to see everyone score. I have a lot of teachers from my past to show up to my games, I like it when they stop by and after they game I always get photos with them.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

At the end of October, 2024, I broke my back in two places. I was unable to exercise, be active or participate in sports for 6 months. After the pain went away and my back was fully fused, I was cleared to exercise again. I started my recovery in the worst shape of my life. Walking up the stairs was challenging. Getting back to football shape was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am really not sure yet.

One of the most promising athletes in the class of 2029, Mackey has a real chance to claim the coveted QB1 role for the Wayzata Trojans next fall, and based on that performance on Saturday, I like his odds. Touting a 71″ wingspan, 8.75″ hands, and a crazy impressive 8’11” broad jump, Mackey proved more than capable when it came to the physical demands of the position. His footwork is way cleaner than you’d ever expect out of a freshman, and his arm talent has evolved into a special one. He can hit a variety of throws and possesses one of the best deep balls in the camp. He’s also extremely coachable and a very personable athlete. Don’t be surprised if we continue to see Mackey climb up the recruiting rankings over the course of his high school career.
