Some held the QB1 role of their varsity teams, while others put up massive numbers and produced at the freshman level, all of which showing big potential. As a former QB myself, there’s nothing I love more than breaking down that QB film, so take a look at 5 C/O 2024 QB’s who impressed:
Demond Williams Demond Williams 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Basha | 2024 State AZ , 6’0″ 180lbs, Basha
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/14287331/Demond-Williams
Williams is a highly touted prospect with good command a demeanor to drive the ball down the field. He shows fluid footwork and mechanics in the pocket. He delivers with a smooth release and has shown the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws with velocity. He throws with excellent touch and trajectory on deep concepts with excellent placement. He throws well under pressure and isn’t timid from contact. My favorite play on film is around the :43 mark against a tough defense (Mesa High), where he delivers a throw with excellent arm strength, touch, and trajectory for a TD after taking a big hit. He can make plays on his feet as well and is a promising young prospect. He is a big time player with the potential to be a big time national recruit in the upcoming years.
Brady McDonough Brady McDonough 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Desert Mountain | 2024 State AZ , 6’0″ 175lbs, Desert Mountain
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/6107288/Brady-McDonough
McDonough displays a natural arm talent with the ability to fit throws in with finesse, touch, or velocity. He had a huge year on the freshman team by throwing for 2,810 yards and 52 TD’s. He is calm and poised in the pocket and delivers throws with solid timing. Good placement on a variety of throws with the ability to throw receivers open, and reads coverages very well for a ’24 kid. He’s flashed anticipation for routes to develop, which i expect to progress as he matures. He’s shown the ability to extend plays as he is a solid improviser with the athleticism to pick up yards on his feet as well. He already holds an offer from Arizona, and projects to blow up this upcoming season at Desert Mountain.
Cassius Campbell Cassius Campbell 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Maricopa | 2024 AZ , 6’2″ 170lbs, Maricopa
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11297392/Cassius-Campbell
Campbell sizes up with good length and much room to grow into his frame as he matures. He displays solid mechanics in the pocket and is developing into a big time upcoming pocket passer. The southpaw delivers with a quick, over the top release with good accuracy to hit receivers in stride. Strong arm strength to stretch the field when needed as well. The biggest thing that stood out to me on film was his toughness. He was thrown to the wolves his first varsity start against top ranked Saguaro, and was fearless. He threw well under pressure after taking some hard hits after release, and kept moving forward. That’s a natural leader with a ton of potential and grit.
Zayden Neill Zayden Neill 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB San Tan Charter | 2024 State AZ , 6’1″ 160lbs, San Tan Charter
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11947274/zayden-neill
Neill held the QB1 role for 2A San Tan Charter and showed a ton of potential on film. Like other young QB’s, he still has room to grow into his frame, but holds numerous intangibles. He stands tall in the pocket and delivers with a quick release. He shows solid arm strength overall to stretch the field, hit deep field side out rides with timing and velocity, and fit throws into tight windows. I would like to see him improve his footwork fluidity in the pocket, which I expect to come with reps and maturity. He’s comfortable throwing on the run as he’s accurate in both directions (dominant/non-dominant). One thing I love about his film is that he hits his checkdowns or flat routes. He doesn’t try to do too much, he gets the ball to his playmakers. Big potential and a high ceiling going forward.
Navi Bruzon Navi Bruzon 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Liberty | 2024 State AZ , 5’9″ 170lbs, Liberty
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/14825913/Navi-Bruzon
Bruzon is a dual-threat QB at Liberty who is competing for the starting job with some solid competition. However, his film is extremely impressive as he is definitely one of the best all-around athletes on the field. Left handed kid that throws well out of play action with velocity and placement, and is an absolute playmaker under center. He’ll need to improve as a pocket passer, although he has already shown big improvements this offseason. As a ball carrier, he possesses exceptional balance and change of direction, with speed to finish big runs. He has solid vision and physicality, and turns into a RB when he pulls it down. Bruzon has been competing against tough competition at various camps and showcases, and has been taking a big leap in talent and maturity from his freshman to sophomore year so far.
