Prospect Watch: Underclassmen Spotlight
Back with another good look at three football players from the 2023 class that college coaches should know and learn about, especially as we head into camp season next month.
Here are this week’s featured prospects …….
#EastTN23
(LB) J.J. Foust J.J. Foust 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Powell | 2021 TN (6’2 200) – Powell
Scouts Take: A key defender and leader on the Panthers defense, Foust is an active and aggressive guy that could play all three linebacker positions and the great thing about this talent is the fact he is far from a finished product. Foust has been an active performer now on the Powell defense for two years now, so he is a bit of a household name, especially in the East Tennessee region that is primed for All-State honors by the end of the upcoming Fall season.
Foust is an athletic guy that can drop into coverage and play in open space, so that’s why his versatility is strong to play all linebacker positions. His ultimate role could fit best in the middle but Foust has the speed, range and instincts to become a playmaker on the outside. He also plays hard and fast, so you will definitely feel him when he hits ya. Another big component about Foust that stands out is his leadership and consistency. He hardly ever leaves the field and seems to always be around the ball. Foust has college traits and college interest, so it will be interesting to see where his recruitment goes after a long college summer camp season.

(TE) Mena Mannan (6’4 215) – Franklin
Scouts Take: Mannan is a bit of an unknown prospect at the moment but that hopefully changes soon as this guy has talent and the abilities to make it to the college level. Sporting nice size along with a good frame, Mannan has the look and traits to be molded and developed into a college level prospect. He shows on film a nice get off along with the ability to work deep down the field or the intermediate areas. The Admirals rising junior can run, which immediately makes him an intriguing option at tight end. He has the ability to line out wide or play with his hand in the dirt. His versatility is something that will go a long way in his college recruitment.
Mannan is also an able, willing blocker that plays with nice technique and a bit of a mean streak. He provides a nice combination of receiving and run blocking that college coaches should have interest with as they like dual threat tight ends that can do a variety of things. Mannan must continue getting stronger and bigger but the upside and potential is there to eventually find himself achieving college offers.

(QB) Brock Glenn Brock Glenn 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Lausanne | 2023 State TN (6’2 185) – Lausanne
Scouts Take: Glenn is a prospect I have been able to see in person as well as break down his film and by everything I have seen so far, this guy has a bright future ahead of him on the next level. Glenn already has good size and he will only get bigger as he continues to mature and develop and you can bet he will as the Lynx starting quarterback is a big time worker that is all about bettering his craft and his body. His desire to be better and leadership qualities are already at a mature level where Glenn could see the field early in his college career.
Glenn’s biggest trait that pops to me when watching him is his mechanics. He sports almost polished mechanics that is better than most 2022 quarterbacks and something you will find in the collegiate game past and present. He also handles the pocket very well. Glenn is a good athlete that moves well and can work the ball down field from inside or outside the pocket. He shows a lot of upside for the next level, so this upcoming junior season will be big for Glenn and his future recruitment.
