Expert Analysis
Jonathan Davalos | Prep Redzone Scout
Mason excelled in every opportunity he was given at the Next Combine, proving he could hang with the best wide receivers in attendance. Time and time again, he stayed toe to toe with his matchup downfield, making it extremely difficult for quarterbacks to find a clean throwing window. His ability to stay glued at the hip in coverage showed off both his discipline and athleticism. With performances like this, it’s clear Mason has a lot of promise and is developing into a reliable, lockdown presence in the secondary.

Mason is a wide receiver returning for his second combine this offseason, building on his success from the previous Next Combine, where he earned an honorable mention. At this event, he was one of the top-performing receivers, catching the attention of everyone during live-action drills against defensive backs. His playmaking abilities stand out, driven by exceptional footwork both at the line of scrimmage and at the break, allowing him to manipulate defenders and create openings for the quarterback. With his impressive route running and ability to create separation, Mason is sure to shine on Saturday and continue to make a strong case as one of the top prospects in his class.

Koch is not your typical receiver, d-back combo player. He is an athlete with tremendous ball skills and elite instincts. Looks confident running the entire route tree. Nice soft hands that can high point consistently. I like him on defense too. Great hips with speed to close on the ball.

A prospect that immediately jumped out on film to me, while watching one of his teammates on the newly-formed St. James Royals program. While he’s not the fastest or most polished athletically, he’s a reliable kid that can usually be counted on to make a play. Great body control, understanding of timing on his jumps and strong hands. He’s a nice possession receiver and/or reliable Strong Safety type.
