This was another one of the easier choices in this article. Dustin is the state’s top safety talent. It looks effortless for him to go from centerfield to the sideline to make a play on the ball. He is outstanding at reading the QB or diagnosing the play as it is happening. Plus he is a kid that you can trust tackling and he also offers the ability to provide depth at the WR position where he has also looked elite.

We have talked about some scary athletes so far, but Dustin might be the scariest of the group. With the others you need to find ways to get them off the field. They can’t hurt you on the sideline. With the 2027 WR/DB you can’t get away from him as he stars on both sides of the ball. The elite athlete checks every box to dominate both ways. Elite range and speed that is only further boosted by a high football IQ. The junior has elite ball skills to be able to go up and make a play with perfect timing on either side of the ball. Then with the ball in his hands he becomes a whole new elusive, and explosive athlete.
To this point we have watched Dustin pile up 20 receptions, 597 yards, and 6 TDs on offense to go along with his 19 tackles, 8 PBUs, and 5 INTs. The junior also returned 2 of those 5 INTs for scores. If you let the ball get in his hands… good luck.

. We have covered some of his outstanding offensive performances, and now he is back for his defensive dominance in Week 7. Both of the junior’s pick sixes came on the back of excellent reading and reacting. Dustin read the QB like a book, showed off his range from the safety position, and easily jumped routes for the interception then did a great job of getting it into the endzone both times. The next play after the picks you see the three down versatility as he goes from 10+ yards deep to making a tackle against the run at the line of scrimmage. Dustin has the physical and mental tools to allow CM to play him single high and really stack the box if they want to. Dustin is a legitimate FBS talent and I believe we could see him at the Power 4 level.

took over Catholic Memorial’s game vs Sun Prairie West. The premier talent showed how dominant his traits are compared to even a solid group of DBs that he went against. He effortlessly could get vertical while also separating from DBs. It was natural for him to find the ball over his shoulder and track it down. Dustin naturally plucks the ball out of the air. When pressed, his release at the line is quick, efficient, and gets him on top of the CB very early in the play. Roach is an elite playmaker, making the game-changing plays look like an everyday task. No doubt about it, Dustin is one of the state’s elite skill players.

The first skill player that I am expecting to see earn their first offer in this Class is the WR/DB out of Catholic Memorial. Dustin is elite on both sides of the ball, making a huge impact on a team that appeared in the State Championship. He has a great frame for either an outside WR or safety. His ball skills from tracking/adjusting and making the catch are elite. The catches he makes throughout his sophomore season are unbelievable at times. Dustin also possesses the athletic profile of a D1 caliber skill player. Speed to get downfield or roam sideline to sideline. The body control to run crisp routes or turn and run at DB. Roach also clearly possesses that playmaker trait, which I describe as the ability to make the special, game-changing play look easy. Outside of the trenches, I firmly believe that Dustin should be the next athlete to earn a D1 offer.
