They certainly improved in 2025, winning double digit games for the first time since 2021, when they captured the Class 3A state championship. The season opened up with four straight wins, including a dominant rivalry win over Cascia Hall in the season opener. The calendar flipped to October and they dropped a tough district contest to Lincoln Christian. They wouldn't lose again in the regular season. There were a couple close calls, including a three-point win over Checotah in week seven, but they finished the regular season with a 9-1 record and finished second in the district. They opened the playoff run with a very entertaining first round win over Berryhill at home. That set up a road trip to Sulphur to square off with the Bulldogs in the quarterfinals. The season came to an end there as they lost 77-28 to finish 10-2 on the season. Coincidentally, both losses came to the two teams that played for the 3A state championship. But now, the Dutch are ready to turn the page and with that new chapter, they'll also face new competition in 2026 and beyond.

2026 OUTLOOK

The Dutch are one of a handful of teams in Class 3A that moved down to Class 2A-1 this offseason. This will be their first time dropping down to 2A football since 2019. They've been competing in Class 3A for the last six seasons and they won two state championships early in that run. Now, they will shift their focus to competing against 2A-1 competition. But they should be in a position to compete right away. They are a borderline top five team in our 2A-1 preseason rankings and they find themselves in a district where they could certainly run away with the district crown. Five starters return on the offensive side of the ball. They will be working in a new quarterback but they have talent returning to still put up some points. Defensively, the Dutch bring back seven starters from last year's team. While the offense comes along, they will certainly be relying on the defense to take a major step forward and shut some opponents down. Now, the schedule is an interesting one. The Dutch are going to be challenged in the first three weeks with a competitive non-district slate. But the district is one where on paper, they look like the favorite coming into the season. If they win the district title, that will set them up for a lot of success when the playoffs begin in November.

KEY LOSSES TO GRADUATION

Hunter Collier - Offensive/Defensive Lineman
Kainon Gibson - Wide Receiver
Trey Burleson - Quarterback (2025 All State Honorable Mention)

PLAYERS TO WATCH

2028 running back and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1831420' first='James' last='Jones'] is coming off a breakout season in 2025. It was set up by an injury but Jones got an opportunity to have a bigger workload in the Holland Hall offense and he took advantage of that. Jones emerged as Holland Hall's top rusher and had a terrific sophomore season. He was playing really well down the stretch of last season, finishing with well over 700 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He's also a player that has proven that he can be moved around and have a significant impact on the offensive side of the ball.

2027 wide receiver and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1833188' first='Kaysen' last='Fredieu'] is one of several two-way players to keep an eye on when Holland Hall takes the field this season. Offensively, Fredieu has an opportunity to emerge as the top target in the passing game. Based on last season, Fredieu was used on both sides of the ball but he really played well on offense. He was the second-leading receiver on last year's team, finishing with nearly 800 yards and tied for the lead in touchdown catches with nine. All signs point to him becoming the leader at the wide receiver position this fall.

One of the biggest holes that Holland Hall has to fill is at the quarterback position after losing a very experienced signal caller. 2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1249314' first='Liam' last='Kaplan'] appears to be the next guy up at quarterback for the Dutch. We've gotten a chance to watch Kaplan quite a bit in the offseasons over the last few years. In our opinion, based on what we've seen, he's going to be ready for the bright lights on Friday nights. He has shown steady improvement over the last several years in various showcase events and 7v7 tournaments. But now it's time to do it when it matters the most.

If Holland Hall's offense has success in 2026, it's going to start on the line of scrimmage. 2027 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1839435' first='Louie' last='Culley'] returns for his third season as a starter on the Holland Hall offensive line. Culley will start for the Dutch at center and he has the potential to be the foundational piece of this Holland Hall offense. The Dutch were very explosive last season and if they are going to get back to a point where they are averaging over 30 points per game, it's all going to start with Culley. He'll also turn around and be an impactful player on the defensive line.

2027 running back and defensive hybrid standout [player_tooltip player_id='1637570' first='Rhett' last='Gibson'] is coming into this season with a major chip on his shoulder. He was primed for a big junior season but it was impacted by an injury that sidelined him for the majority of the 2025 season. But now, Gibson is back and will be joining Jones in the backfield as a dangerous weapon in the run game. He'll also play plenty of defense and he can line up wherever the Dutch need him. Whether that's on the line of scrimmage or further back as a linebacker, Gibson has shown the ability to be very versatile when he's on the field.

2027 wide receiver and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1837637' first='Roman' last='Lepak'] is another two-way player to look out for. Just like with Fredieu, Lepak will start at wide receiver on offense and in the secondary on defense. But while Fredieu is more of a playmaker on offense, Lepak was mostly used on defense because of his playmaking there. He is one of the team's leading tacklers that returns this season and he also led the team in interceptions a season ago. We think his role will be elevated on offense but don't be surprised if he is one of the unquestioned leaders on the Holland Hall defense.

MORE NAMES TO KNOW

[player_tooltip player_id='1831427' first='Connor' last='Hutchins'] - 2027 Kicker/Punter
[player_tooltip player_id='1831416' first='Hudson' last='Short'] - 2027 Tight End/Linebacker
[player_tooltip player_id='1837639' first='John' last='Roberds'] - 2027 Wide Receiver
[player_tooltip player_id='1831415' first='Maxwell' last='Clark'] - 2027 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1839638' first='Mikey' last='Stewart'] - 2027 Offensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1837642' first='Nash' last='Howell'] - 2027 Kicker/Punter
[player_tooltip player_id='1837655' first='Trip' last='Reynolds'] - 2027 Tight End/Linebacker
[player_tooltip player_id='1837641' first='Will' last='Hurley'] - 2027 Wide Receiver

2026 SCHEDULE

Aug. 28th - AT Cascia Hall
- The 2026 season kicks off with the annual “Hall Brawl” between the Dutch and rival Cascia Hall. Holland Hall will visit Cascia in week zero, looking to spoil their season opener of the school's 100th year. Holland Hall beat the Commandos 27-6 last season, snapping a three-game losing streak in the heated rivalry series.
Sept. 4th - AT Victory Christian
- Holland Hall has another road game in week one but only a few miles away as they'll face Victory Christian. These two have met in non-district play in each of the last two seasons. The first meeting in 2024 was a high-scoring and competitive game with the Dutch winning 39-28. Last year was all Holland Hall as they prevailed 49-7.
Sept. 18th - Metro Christian
- After a week off, Holland Hall's home opener comes in week three for the final non-district game on their schedule. They host Metro Christian in the first meeting between these two teams since 2021. They met six straight years in non-district play from 2016-2021 and each team won three games apiece. Metro moved up to 3A this year while Holland Hall dropped down.
Sept. 25th - AT Claremore Sequoyah
- Holland Hall's district schedule kicks off with a road game to Claremore to face Sequoyah in week four. We mentioned how Holland Hall would face new competition and new challenges with the drop down to Class 2A-1 and it starts right away. These two teams have never met on the gridiron but that changes this year when they go head to head.
Oct. 2nd - Henryetta
- Following the district opener against Claremore Sequoyah, Holland Hall returns home to face Henryetta in week five. And just like with the Claremore Sequoyah match-up, Holland Hall has never played Henryetta but that will all change this season. Henryetta is a program trying to climb back up and get back to winning games on a consistent level.
Oct. 9th - AT Okmulgee
- For the third straight week, Holland Hall will go head to head with a new opponent for the first time. The Dutch will drive south to Okmulgee to face the Bulldogs in week six. Similar to Henryetta, Okmulgee is looking to turn things around and get back to a winning brand of football. Holland Hall can't afford to look ahead here.
Oct. 15th - Rejoice Christian
- On a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven, Holland Hall hosts Rejoice Christian in another match-up that will be a first between programs. It's hard not to be fired up about this match-up as Holland Hall has had recent championship success and Rejoice Christian is coming off back to back state titles in Class A-1. This could end up deciding the district title.
Oct. 23rd - Sperry
- Following the week seven clash with Rejoice Chrisitan, Holland Hall will turn their attention to Sperry in week eight. Just like the first four district games, the Dutch have never played Sperry prior to this season. And just like with the Rejoice match-up, this is a game that will have major implications for both teams in the 2026 playoff hunt.
Oct. 30th - AT Westville
- Holland Hall goes back on the road after two straight home games and they'll head to the Arkansas border to face Westville in week nine. Westville is the first district opponent that Holland Hall will face this season that they have some history with. These two were district opponents in 2018 and 2019 and Holland Hall won both by a combined score of 112-0.
Nov. 6th - Central
- The regular season wraps up in week ten with a home game against Central. These two teams were district opponents when both squads were in Class 3A from 2020-2023. This was a series that the Dutch dominated. They won all four meetings and won all four games by 21 points or more. Holland Hall will look to hit an extra gear here going into the playoffs.

NOTABLE

Holland Hall has now played ten seasons of football since joining the OSSAA in 2016. They've obviously been playing football a lot longer but they were doing it in the Southwest Prep Conference and were not an OSSAA member until 2016. And ever since joining there is no doubt that they've been a dominant force in multiple classes. They've won at least ten games four different times and of course captured two state championships in 2020 and 2021. They've made it to the playoffs every season since joining in 2016 and have won at least one playoff game nine of the ten times, with the only first round exit coming in 2022. Now, as the Dutch head back down to Class 2A football and into 2A-1, the expectation is not only for them to continue to be a playoff team. But take that next step and go on a deep run in November. They have been beaten in three straight quarterfinal games, they look to get over that hump in 2026.

LAST FIVE SEASONS

2025 - 10-2 - Lost In Class 3A Quarterfinals
2024 - 7-5 - Lost In Class 3A Quarterfinals
2023 - 8-4 - Lost In Class 3A Quarterfinals
2022 - 5-6 - Lost In Class 3A 1st Round
2021 - 13-1 - Class 3A State Champions

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

2 State Championships

2021 - Beat Lincoln Christian 24-16
2020 - Beat Lincoln Christian 35-7
