Ohio's 2029 class of wide receivers is a deep and talented group. It boasts a wide range of different types of receivers and skillsets. It spans high schools from all regions of the state. It's one that while talented has a lot of room for growth and thus a high ceiling. Today I take a look at 5 players who debuted at the top of the rankings.

Stoll is a well-rounded receiver for the Rangers. He can beat defenders in a number of different ways. Lukas gets good releases and has sharp breaks he uses to create quick separation. He has a great idea of how he wants to attack a defense and runs very clean routes. On longer routes he tracks the ball well and shows excellent ball skills on 50/50 balls. His combination of size, athleticism, and polish are advanced for his age.

Thompson emerged in his freshman season as a big-time vertical threat for Springfield. Thompson has the speed to press opposing cornerbacks. He creates vertical separation and he may have the best ball skills and contested catch ability in the class. His film shows the ability to make diving and jump ball catches through contact.

Watching Gaulding's film you see a long and smooth receiver. At 6'2 200 he has a good burst. Whether it's versus man or zone Gaulding just has a knack for getting open. He does a great job of creating and finding space. Chris is a natural hands catcher. He catches the ball away from his frame and has strong hands that possesses the ball through contact.

Shephard is a human spark plug on the football field. When you watch his film, he just has juice. He plays with tremendous confidence. He has fluid hips and his explosiveness in and out of breaks shake defenders all day long. Where I think he's most special thought is with the ball in his hands in the open field. Dionte's has the ability to go from 0 to 60 in a blink of an eye. He also has the suddenness and ability to juke in and out and leave defenders grasping at air. He runs violent.

Davis is right there with the other top receivers in this 2029 class. What separates Davis is his combination of explosiveness and athleticism for his size. Being that he's only headed into his sophomore season and he's already 6'4 and 215 pounds I could see him growing into the tight end position. Davis flashes big explosive breaks. He has the hands to make plays through contact. I think he's a good enough athlete that he could be an outstanding edge on the defensive size. Quite simply there's a lot of opportunity with Davis because of his physical skillset. Jayden also shows off his talents on the basketball court where he excels.
