Early Risers: Breakout Prospects to Watch

Espinoza put on an air raid attack against Lutheran looking confident and poised throughout. Measures in at 5'10 170-pounds. He went 22/33 for 337 yards with 6 touchdowns. Espinoza has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, balance, good speed, and change of direction. Good throw power with a quick release. Espinoza displays very good ball placement on his throws, including go and out routes. Good pocket mobility using his feet to evade pressure. He's a dual threat QB. Has good rollout speed when rolling out left or right with very good throw on the run and good off-platform throwing. Climbs up in the pocket and will scramble for a big gain. He has a nasty spin move in his arsenal as well. With continued performances like this, Espinoza will be having a breakout season!     Garey had a great game at the running back position for Valor in their season opener. He had 21 carries for 103 yards with 3 touchdowns. Garey displays very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and balance. Quick twitch ability throughout. Very good vision. If one gap was covered, he'd use his very explosive jump cuts to pivot into an open one. Very good outside running. Once he turns the corner, Garey uses his homerun speed to blaze past defenders into the endzone. Great job getting yards after contact due to his slippery elusiveness, and contact balance. Good catching as well out of the backfield. One thing I liked, was how he extended his reach to the pylon for a touchdown. Last year he primarily played CB, however I'm excited to see how he does at running back.     Saunders is an athletic dual-threat QB for Montrose. Measures in at 6'0 175-pounds. He had a good outing in the first game back with 3 total touchdowns. Saunders displays very good athletic ability due to his very good acceleration, speed, balance, and good change of direction. Good throw power mixed with a good throwing motion and timely release. Saunders has good accuracy and progression speed. Very good pocket mobility. Is able to shift and avoid pressure with his feet. If no one's open, uses his very good scramble ability for the first down. Great awareness on read options and triple options plays. On QB runs, he displays very good vision to weave through defenses. Not afraid of getting physical, lowering his shoulder to truck through defenders. Exciting first outing for the QB!     Weber measures in at 6'0 285-pounds playing C, G, DT for Mesa Ridge. At the center position, he has good timing from snap to block. Uses his good initial quickness and hand quickness to create contact first against his opponent. Weber maintains a low pad level with his good knee bend and solid flexibility. Good balance and body control. Good hand placement, hand strength, and strength. Good run blocking on the move. Good timing from 1st to 2nd level blocks with solid acceleration. Good pull blocking. Weber has very good competitive toughness as well, consistently playing through the whistle making his presence known. Intrigued to see how Weber continues to develop this season.     Jacobs was a key part in the 28-12 win over Vista Ridge. Measuring in at 6'1 210-pounds. Jacobs has good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, lateral quickness, speed, good acceleration, and jumping. Very good read and reaction speed. Jacobs does a great job diagnosing what's in front of him, and attacking it with confident. Very good sideline to sideline range. Consistently prowling the field helping his teammates finish up tackles. Very good tackling. Uses his strength to stop the ball carriers in their tracks and lays the boom on them as well. Against the run, he's shown good get off and block shedding ability. Very good pursuit. He also has good zone coverage ability. Look out for Jacobs this season.
