Espinoza has previously been at our camps before. I’ve seen the growth between the two camps. Espinoza’s cool calm demeanor was on display throughout the event. Espinoza showed how coachable he was during the event. Being attentive and taking in what his positional coach was saying. He has very good touch on his throws. Makes it easy for the receiver to catch. Colter also has very good ball placement skills. He’d throw in stride with his receiver for the easy catch. Espinoza used his very good throw power to consistently produce in the 7 v 7 drills. Another great camp performance by the Ponderosa QB!

Espinoza gained momentum as the day went on, particularly excelling during half field and 3v2 periods. His field vision allowed him to make quick reads, delivering the ball to open receivers, and checking it down when necessary. Espinoza’s confidence grew throughout the session, and he showed a strong decision making ability. He’s a player whose stock is trending up heading into the summer.

Espinoza first landed on my radar due to our PRZ Combine event this past winter! Measuring in at 5’9 165-pounds, the Ponderosa QB went 107/192 for 1234 yards, 55.7% completion rate, 9 TDs, 6 INT, 62 carries for 340 yards, and 7 touchdowns. Colter has good athletic ability due to good acceleration, speed, and change of direction. Good throw power paired with a good release. Very good medium and deep accuracy. He has very good throw on the run whether he’s rolling out left or right. He can launch the ball while rolling out left, maintain accuracy. Espinoza has very good mental processing. He stays poised under pressure, finding the open man. He is accurate under pressure, and while taking big hits. When he runs, he runs out of bounds or slides instead of taking the big hit. Inside the pocket, he is elusive. Evading sacks or breaking them. He is an exciting young player, who I can’t wait to see more of!

Espinoza turned heads with his performances, throwing for 1,234 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions while completing over 55% of his passes. His true impact, however, came on the ground, where he rushed for 340 yards and found the end zone seven times, bringing his total touchdowns to 16. A dangerous runner when he reaches the perimeter, Espinoza possesses the speed to outrun defenders and extend plays. He excels in the intermediate passing game and is accurate when throwing on the run, allowing his receivers to make plays after the catch. With his toughness in the pocket and ability to deliver under pressure, he is a strong breakout candidate who could emerge as a key playmaker this season.

Espinoza made a name for himself during the showcase. The speedy Ponderosa quarterback was making very accurate throws during the day. He has a good over the top release, mixed with good throw power. He launches the ball downfield, with a nice touch to it. I was very impressed with his accuracy and footwork. Very good short accuracy. He kept his feet underneath his shoulders, and moved around to find the receiver. Espinoza’s good ball placement was on full display. The defensive backs were scrappy all day, so Espinoza would throw the ball leading the receiver to it. Great job from the young QB.
