Bishop McDevitt vs. Good Counsel: Offensive Standouts From Week 0

I thought he did a great job of spreading the football around to his terrific trio of wideouts. Williams also made great decisions on checkdown passes, a couple of which led to scores (more on that later). The only blemish? Two interceptions that went for pick-sixes. Luckily for him and the Crusaders, those didn't cost him the game. On his touchdown catch, he might've run one of the best routes I've ever seen called in the red zone. Quick missed a few games last season. He's at the top of the list among slot receivers in Pennsylvania. What the stat sheet won't tell you is that his quickness out of his breaks caused a couple of pass-interference calls. Like Quick, he'll be sharing targets with two other talented receivers. Quickness and sharp route-running are two of his biggest traits. He showed his value as an all-around offensive weapon in his first varsity game as a freshman (27 rushing yards, 62 receiving yards, and 62 kick-return yards). Good Counsel's defense did a good job of limiting his rushing effectiveness, but could not handle him catching passes out of the backfield (six catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns). No, that stat line doesn't scream dominance, but I can see him flourishing big time at his new school (he transferred from Cumberland Valley during the off-season). Smith caught at leaset 5-6 passes and made a nice touchdown catch in the back of the endzone despite being closely guarded. With the 1v1 coverage Bishop McDevitt played, I thought he would see even more targets due to his size advantage. I thought he was the best player and prospect on the field. Smith is big, has speed, and runs great routes. He's going to be a tough cover all season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
