Moves at the Top

The Top 3 is still the Top 3, except we have a new Number One at the Missouri Class of 2027 Linebacker position, and that is [player_tooltip player_id='408969' first='Caleb' last='Green'] out of Lee's Summit North. Green is highly productive, hyper aggressive, twitched up and speedy, and physical on contact with sideline to sideline ability. He possesses the best overall combination of traits at the position, won LB MVP at the Under Armour Next Camp Series in St. Louis this offseason, and is currently committed to Nebraska after flipping from Missouri.

Cardinal Ritter's [player_tooltip player_id='1188358' first='Marshaun' last='Ivy'] and North Kansas City's [player_tooltip player_id='1260477' first='Kobe' last='Rhymes'] are long standing fixtures at the top of the rankings. These two carry some solid mass with them, Ivy a bit more size, but both are projected top inside linebackers at the next level that have ability to control the box with violence, physicality and football instincts. Ivy is currently set with Arizona State, while Rhymes is with home state Missouri.

[player_tooltip player_id='1590220' first='Josh' last='McCarthy'] from Farmington is a mover up the list and was on our Athlete list, but looks like he will settle in at linebacker after deep film review from 2025. McCarthy is a versatile athlete that can play all over the field in all three phases. On defense, he is highly productive and keeps offenses guessing lining up all over the box. He is a high motor, quick trigger, laterally fluid, football smart player that also plays sideline to sideline. Currently committed to Iowa State, McCarthy is highly underrecruited.

[player_tooltip player_id='1537429' first='Quentin' last='Lea'] from Rock Bridge also made a move up the list, and is another highly productive defensive player that plays in the box and out in space. Lea will settle in at iLB and will be relied upon with his football intelligence, instincts, physicality and fundamentals.

[player_tooltip player_id='1590205' first='Drew' last='Benassi'] from Lee's Summit was a massive mover in this update and falls in at 32 overall and 6 on the LB board. Benassi is another very high productivity player that plays with a mega motor, takes great angles and flies around the field to the football.

New Names Dotting the List

The new names on the linebacker list showed up in the middle with prospects that figure to draw significant Division I FCS, Division II and Division III interest. The top two on this list is [player_tooltip player_id='2263464' first='Hunter' last='Burkis'] from Kirkwood and [player_tooltip player_id='2221646' first='Joah' last='Moore'] from Jackson. Burkis reads well, stays square, plays with good fundamentals, lateral fluidity and physicality at the tackle point. Moore is a highly productive player that is sharp off the ball with his play recognition, quick to diagnose and spike to the ball. Both of these prospects have solid Division I/Division II projections.

The Big Riser

[player_tooltip player_id='1667956' first='Noah' last='Norman'] | Lindbergh

Norman is the second highest rising prospect, up 188 places in the overall rankings to 128, and 9 in the linebacker group. Ran 11.56 110m in sophomore year 2025, measured in 6020 218 4.58x40 29.9vj 9'5bj at Lindenwood 2026, has a 4.0 GPA. Good productivity defensively in 2025 and contributes on special teams as a return guy with good size and speed. As an inside backer, has good open field speed, physicality, lateral fluidity, quick to read and react, takes on and sheds blocks and runs through and over people. Norman has a shot to continue to elevate this fall.
