2030 Freshman With Big Varsity Debuts

Several of the top players I watched in middle school picked right up where they left off last season to put them on my radar. Here are some of the top freshman with impressive debut performances on varsity from week one of Missouri high school football.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1270501' first='Amari' last='Roberts'] WR/QB MICDS <br>5'11" 175 - My top ranked prospect in the Missouri class of 2030 hit the ground running in style and showcased his impressive offensive talents, speed and kick return skills in his varsity debut. Amari had a 82 yard kick return for a touchdown, caught 6 passes for 48 yards and another touchdown, and was 3-4 passing for 37 yards. Already holds several D1 offers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1591172' first='Harlan' last='Futrell'] Jr. QB Vianney <br>5'11" 165 - Another very impressive and skilled offensive talent who continued to lead his team on the next level as their starting varsity quarterback. The dual threat talent led his team to a season opening victory running and passing the ball, while managing the offense well. He threw for 90 yards and rushed for another 37. The athetic Futrell also has several early D1 offers already. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ja' Khori Battle QB St. Mary's <br>6'0" 175 - Yet another very talented freshman quarterback who is the varsity starter and showed he is ready for the job. Nicknamed "Big Time", Battle played big time for his team on the road in Illinois with a super impressive debut going 22 of 28 for 302 yard and 2 touchdowns. Ja'Khori has some impressive skills for a high school QB in any grade, but he looks advanced with both his athletic ability and passing skills. He still has a lot of room for improvement, but that should come over time. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1638687' first='Desire' last='Abunaw'] DB North Point<br>5'10" 165 - One of several talented freshman on the Grizzles team who look like they will be four year contributors. Abunaw is very athletic, with good speed and skills for his age. He impressed the North Point coaches in the offseason and definitely in his debut on defense for them finishing with 10 total tackles in a hard fought three point loss. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lamar Johnson CB Lee's Summit<br>5'9" 170 - One of the starting cornerbacks for the Tigers who opened the season with a big 20-17 win over Blue Springs South. Johnson played with a confidence and talent of a more experience player. He held his own against some good receivers, and also did a nice job against the run. He finished the game with 2 tackles and a pass break up. He has a bright future to watch for. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
