You can tell he really makes his presence felt every Friday night when his Park Hill South squad suits up. Nelson is a thumper in every sense of the word, Perry loves the contact, as every linebacker should, of course. He also shows the ability to be fantastic in pass coverage, especially in zone reads, when he has the responsibility of blocking those passing lanes, and using his eyes to read and react.

I’m going to keep a very close eye on this young man going into his Senior season.

He flies to the ball with lateral quickness, burst and reactive twitch. Nelson plays with a big motor, great effort, seeking contact and chasing the ball sideline to sideline. He uses quick feet and hips to change direction and hunt the ball carrier. He is productive versus the run and the pass and has some range. Last fall, he recorded 105 tackles, 16 TFL, 5 sacks, 4 PBU, 2 forced fumbles, was named Team Captain and has a 3.75 GPA.
