My colleagues have done a great job in previewing schools across North Carolina, and I will start previews with key players on schools within the Charlotte Metro Area. Previewing schools in the Charlotte Area can always be tricky in the new transfer era that we are in now, so if we preview a player who may have switched schools after a preview is completed, please forgive us.

The Chambers Cougars have undergone a lot of changes on their roster in the 2nd year of Head Coach Captain Munnerlyn's leadership. They have a lot of skill and talent in key positions, and with the return of Defensive Coordinator Dre Cannon, who helped lead Vance/Chambers to championship levels a few years ago, this will be a team to watch in the 8A classification. We'll highlight some key players, and if things come together, they can be a dark-horse contender come state playoff time.

Jamouri is new to the Chambers program, coming into the school after having success at West Charlotte over the past three years, bringing them a State Championship 2 years ago, and leading them to the state semifinals last season. Jamouri is a dual-threat quarterback who excels at making plays under pressure. His accuracy and arm strength have improved every season, and it will be interesting to see how the Cougars offense will look under his direction. There have been some positive reviews from 7 on 7 competition this summer, and Nichols will be a battle-tested senior. His play will go a long way in determining how well Chambers competes this year.

Tahj is a returning starter at the running back spot, and I thought he had a good year as one of the main running threats in the Cougars offense. I like Tahj's speed and vision, and I think he will thrive in some version of a spread offensive attack, which probably makes sense given the speed and playmaking ability across the Chambers roster. Getting the ball to him in space in a variety of ways is something I expect from the Cougars this season.

Dior was one of the leading receivers for the Cougars offensively, and when he played well was when Chambers had their most offensive success, typically. He does most of his work operating out of the slot, and he has excellent speed and runs his routes with some impressive discipline. Dior can also be effective in the quick screen game, as his agility allows him to make some impressive moves in the open field with the football in his hands.

Aiden comes into the program after playing last season at West Charlotte, and he had a strong season overall upfront for the Lions. I saw him up close at the CFI Carolinas MEGA Showcase, and I was impressed with his overall fundamentals. Aiden is strong in pass protection, and his film shows his nastiness and strength in moving people in the run game. The offensive line for the Cougars is very important this season after losing a couple of very good players to graduation this past season.

Antonio is one of the best defensive linemen in North Carolina in the Class of 2028, plain and simple. Playing for West Mecklenburg last season, Antonio became a national recruit for his explosive first step at the line of scrimmage. That first step led to a lot of disruption in the inside running game and intense immediate pressure when rushing the passer from his defensive tackle position. Expect Flowers to play both inside and outside this season for the Cougars, who look to move him around so opposing offenses can't consistently set their blocking schemes to account for him.

Jymel has become one of the most known and recruited defensive backs in the Class of 2029 in North Carolina. There are two main reasons for this: the first being his size, which he already possesses as a cornerback. Listed at 6'1 and 160 pounds, reasonable growth projections will put him as a very long corner with the ability to develop on a favorable frame that college football programs like out of their cornerbacks - being long and strong with the ability to force on the run and play press on the outside. The second reason is the natural talent Jymel has shown on film - he's not afraid of being left on an island and has the demeanor you need to take on the best receivers across North Carolina. Chambers will give him those opportunities this season.

The corner opposite Jymel is no slouch either - I've liked Marley's game for a couple of years as he has developed into a very good player on the outside. Marley has started to pick up some well-deserved recruiting attention himself. Marley has excellent footwork and can transition out of his breaks well to maintain consistent coverage in both man and zone coverages. I think he's got very good speed, and he can play the ball in the air in single coverage. Don't let the size fool you, I think he's got excellent athleticism as well. I think Marley can be a leader on this team, also.

Coming over from Providence High School, Keland is a superior ATH who can help Chambers in a number of positions on both offense and defense. He's been recruited for defense, though, so that's where I'd expect Keland to make his most consistent impact for the Cougars. Keland can play all three levels of defense if necessary, and I'd expect the Cougars to use his versatility to take advantage of all the things Keland can do. Keland can be a safety who can cover, play down in the box, or even rush the passer from the edge. This is one of the things I'm going to be really intrigued to see early this season - how will Chambers use him defensively?

I wanted to include Malachi on this preview because I've seen him up close at showcases perform really well on either side of the ball. He's got excellent speed and athleticism, and I really think he's got an opportunity to break out this season as a known player for the Cougars. I've heard some good things about him so far this summer in 7 on 7 competition, and I'm really interested to see how that translates early this season for him.
