Scouting Campbell’s 2027 In-State Class
In this article:
Here at Prep Redzone, we seek to cover the entire state of North Carolina, scouting Division III and NAIA prospects the same way we scout Power Four stars. While we primarily operate as a scouting service, we also keep an ear to the ground on the recruiting front.
Usually, when I write about specific schools, I'm writing about a flurry of offers going out from that school to a specific area or position group. This one's a bit different. Here, I'm looking at the Campbell Camels' in-state recruiting class, a talented group that is growing by the day.
What are the Campbell Camels Getting in their 2027 Commits?
Campbell is red hot on the recruiting trail, and as I did with East Carolina earlier this week, I'm sharing my thoughts on the Camels' commits. It's often easier to find info on players who go to Power Four schools, but it can be hard to find info about FCS commits. Here, I'm going in-depth on all five in-state verbal commits for the Camels, and I've made it FREE to read, so share with your favorite Campbell superfan.
Griffin is a massive tackle prospect whom I named the best offensive lineman in Wake County over multiple future Power Four commits. His footwork and flexibility are both exceptional for his size, which allows him to move much more smoothly than you'd expect from a 300-plus pounder. Like several of Campbell's commits, he's shown tangible improvement every season, and the Cardinal Gibbons staff thinks quite highly of him. Realistically, he's a fringe-FBS prospect who's locked in with the FCS Camels.

Sizer doesn't get nearly the recognition he deserves while playing on a front seven with multiple Power Four recruits. Still, Sizer is one of the team's top pass-rushers, able to combine pass-rushing moves with excellent speed, bend, and a budding power profile to get after the quarterback. If I had to guess, I'd expect him to add a bit more weight and play as an undersized hybrid edge rusher, but he's flashed the ability to drop into coverage, and he led the Wildcats in pass deflections last season (while playing both at the line and off the line of scrimmage).

Debnam is newer to our radar, but we really like what we've seen of him. Another two-way player, he fits the profile of a versatile athlete whom the Campbell staff can develop into a key contributor. He's a bit on the lighter side for a true free safety, but shouldn't have any issues adding to his frame, and he should be able to maintain his speed and explosive attributes as he does so.

I'm really excited about this fit for the Camels. Ormandy is the rare multi-year high school starter whose progression has been largely linear. He arguably started a year early for Garner, relying heavily on simple reads and easy throws to win as a freshman. In just two years, he's morphed from an athletic project to one of the top all-around quarterbacks in the state, improving his accuracy and completion percentage while being asked to make more difficult reads, deeper, and more difficult throws. He's also learned how to use his legs as a true weapon, and averaged eight yards per carry as a junior against stiffer competition. Can Campbell continue his development? At this trajectory, he's a high-level FCS starter by Year 2 or 3.

Originally ranked as an offensive lineman, then as a defensive lineman, then back to the offensive line, Graham is as talented a two-way guy as you'll find at the 4A level. One thing to note here, West Stokes has a bit of a reputation for offensive line development, which is part of the reason for Graham's strong ranking in our system. We've watched him go from a raw, high-upside lineman to a disciplined, technically sound guard with massive power potential. He's at his best on gap concepts, and he thrives as a puller and lead blocker. He has good leg drive, and he's shockingly nimble in the open field, able to square up linebackers and safeties at the second and third levels. The Camels are putting together one of the better FCS offensive line classes I've seen in recent years.
