Debnam’s raw numbers aren’t quite what they were last year, but he’s having a fantastic senior season for a strong Wake Forest defense. The Campbell commit moved up 94 spots in the rankings after an excellent start to the year. He’s improved against the run and as an open-field tackler. Wake Forest is also getting the ball in his hands as a kick returner, and he’s already taken one back for six.
I don’t know if I’m simply more aware of Debnam’s presence on the back end, or if it’s because I’ve gotten to watch more down-to-down tape of Wake Forest. Either way, I’ve been impressed by how steady Debnam is. He just doesn’t make many mistakes, and his presence on the back end allows Wake Forest to get creative in front of him.

makes his debut in the 2027 rankings after continuing to show that he is one of the more physical defensive backs in the class. Debnam plays with an aggressive mentality and has proven to be a tackling machine from the secondary, consistently coming downhill and making his presence felt against the run. What makes him an intriguing prospect, however, is that his physicality does not come at the expense of his coverage ability. Debnam is equally impressive when asked to cover, showing the athleticism, instincts, and competitiveness to stay with receivers in space. His ability to impact the game both as a tackler and in coverage gives him a well-rounded skill set and has earned him a spot at #40 among defensive backs and #264 overall in the latest rankings.
Debnam is newer to our radar, but we really like what we’ve seen of him. Another two-way player, he fits the profile of a versatile athlete whom the Campbell staff can develop into a key contributor. He’s a bit on the lighter side for a true free safety, but shouldn’t have any issues adding to his frame, and he should be able to maintain his speed and explosive attributes as he does so.
