Faulkner June Prospect Camp: LB/DB Standouts

<p><strong><em>Get 30% Off Your Subscription with Code PRZWV30 at Checkout!</em></strong></p>   <p>Faulkner University (NAIA) in Montgomery, AL, hosted its second prospect camp on Saturday morning at Billy D. Hillyer Stadium. It was a talented group of prospects competing to learn and potentially earn an offer from the homestanding Eagles. Here were the defensive skill standouts from Saturday's camp!</p>   <p><strong>Claim or create your FREE player profile <a href="https://prepredzone.com/prospect-index/">here</a>!</strong></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">2027 Wicksburg LB John Cole turned in one of the strongest testing performances at the camp, regardless of position. At 6'2 185, Cole posted a 4.5 shuttle, 4.57 40, 7.4 L Drill, and a 9.75-foot broad jump that ranked among the best marks of the day. While I was not able to get an extended look at the linebacker group during position work, the testing numbers alone make Cole a player worth monitoring. He brings a strong athletic foundation to the position and has plenty of room left to develop physically. As he continues to add size and strength to his frame, his combination of athleticism and upside becomes even more appealing. Cole is definitely a prospect for college programs to keep a close eye on this fall.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">2027 Long Beach (MS) DB Carlos Finch Jr has a lot of the physical traits colleges look for in a defensive back. Finch Jr paired his 6'2 185 frame with strong testing numbers, posting a 4.44 shuttle, 4.71 40, and 7.2 L Drill. I did not get an extensive look at the defensive backs during position work, but the combination of size and athleticism was hard to overlook. Finch Jr is already generating interest from small colleges and junior colleges, but I think he has the tools to attract attention from bigger programs. His length allows him to be disruptive around the football, and he has the athleticism to cover ground effectively. Long term, I see safety as his best fit at the next level, where his size, range, and physical traits are assets. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">2027 Park Crossing ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1690539' first='Kymani' last='Osborne'] was one of the more versatile athletes in attendance, working at multiple positions throughout the day. Osborne has the type of frame at 6'3 190 that could take him in several different directions depending on how his body develops over the next few years. That versatility was on display at Faulkner, where he competed at all three levels and showed he can move around comfortably. While there are several possible paths for him, I find myself particularly intrigued by his long-term upside as an EDGE defender if he continues adding size and strength to his frame. Osborne is still a bit of a projection, but the physical tools are there. He's the type of athlete worth keeping a close eye on this fall because a strong senior season could bring in several offers. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/kymaniosborne5/status/2063319884604256430 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">2028 Abbeville Christian DB Riddge Crawford was one of the younger defensive backs who caught my attention during the camp. Crawford brings a lanky 6'0 frame and backed it up with solid testing numbers that included a 4.37 shuttle, 4.8 40, and 9.25-foot broad jump. Unlike some of the linebacker evaluations, I was able to catch a few of Crawford's 1-on-1 reps, and he showed some encouraging signs as a safety prospect. Crawford played with good physicality, stayed connected in coverage, and showed the type of competitive nature you like to see from a defensive back. With two years of high school football still ahead of him, the athletic foundation is already in place. Crawford is a name worth remembering because there is plenty of development left, and the early flashes were promising.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/RCrawford49731/status/2063390119420186785 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">2028 Navarre (FL) DB Luke Eberhart turned in some of the best short-area testing numbers at the camp. Eberhart posted an elite 4.03 shuttle and 7.0 L Drill, and those numbers matched what I saw when he was moving around during drills and competition. At 5'9, he doesn't have the size of some other defensive backs, but he makes up for it with great fluidity and the ability to stay under control through transitions. Eberhart showed the agility that allows him to stay connected in coverage, and that helped him match up well during 1-on-1s. With two seasons remaining in his high school career, Eberhart already possesses an athletic foundation that gives him a high floor as a defensive back prospect.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/eberhardt_luke/status/2063803280757580134 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">2028 Wetumpka LB Xavier Morris is a name worth filing away for the future. Morris carries a stocky 5'10 194 frame, but he showed better athleticism than some may expect, turning in a 4.35 shuttle and 4.84 40. There was no LB 1-on-1 competition, so most of the impression came from his testing numbers and the way he moved throughout the day. Morris looked like a quality athlete and carried himself well during the workout. At this stage, he is more of a projection than a finished evaluation, but the athletic foundation is there. Once his game film becomes available, he'll be a player worth revisiting to see how those physical traits translate on Friday nights.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/_XMan2010/status/2063376487277904295 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">2027 South Paulding (GA) DB Leonidas Flowers is a player whose value becomes clearer once you turn on the film. Flowers posted a 4.72 40 at Faulkner, but after watching his junior tape, I came away appreciating how well he understands and executes his role. He projects well at Nickel at the next level, playing with a high motor, working well around the football, and showing the versatility to contribute against both the run and pass. While he may not have ideal size, he consistently finds ways to be productive and impacts the game in multiple areas. Flowers is the type of prospect that small college programs should know about because his film shows a dependable football player who does a lot of things well.</p>
