Offers From Davidson College

From our research, we had three players from North Carolina and one from South Carolina pick up offers from Davidson after their strong performance at the Academic Mega Camp.

Isaiah Thomas, a talented wide receiver from Indian Land High School in South Carolina picked up an offer from the Wildcats. I've seen him up close at the CFI Carolinas MEGA Showcase back in May, and he picked up his first overall offer at that event. He's picked up some recruiting steam since then, also holding offers from Brown, Dartmouth, and Concord University. He's an athletic prospect with nice size at 6'2 and 185 pounds, and exhibits very good speed and route running overall.

[player_tooltip player_id='2002837' first='Noah' last='Jacobsen'], a very good receiver and overall athlete from Lake Norman High School also picked up an offer from the Wildcats. I've written about Noah a couple of times, and his footwork, route running, and IQ as a wide receiver are all impressive. His head coach, Jonathan Oliphant, has also sung his praises numerous times on Social Media, most recently saying that Noah is one of the most underrecruited talents in the state. That definitely seems to be changing, and rightfully so.

[player_tooltip player_id='1607884' first='Paxton' last='Dobbins'], a talented defensive lineman from Crest High School, also picked up his first Division 1 offer from Davidson. I also saw Paxton at the recent CFI Carolinas MEGA Showcase, and he picked up his first overall offer from Concord at that event. Paxton has some very good size and athleticism that make up a good athletic profile overall. Paxton has the ability to play linebacker at the 2nd level as well, and that positional versatility is probably something that has the Wildcats excited in offering him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1692741' first='Jackson' last='Laws'], a really productive EDGE from Cannon School has been long overdue for an offer in our opinion. At 6'3 and 225 pounds, Jackson led the state last season in sacks with 19 and had 107 total tackles. That production and talent met in person and resulted in Davidson giving him a Division 1 offer. Given all of the positives Jackson has going for him, I'm very happy for him here. He should have another big season as a senior, and then he should have a number of college football programs to choose from in my opinion.

Our research also showed that three players outside of the Carolinas also picked up offers from Davidson. DB Elijah Elibert from Woodward Academy (GA) received an offer. Per his Twitter/X profile, Elijah also has offers from UNLV, Brown, Army, and Air Force. Standing at 5'10 and 170 pounds, having a 4.4 GPA definitely fits the Academic Mega Camp. Also a 10.93 time in the 100 meters!

Also picking up an offer from Davidson was OL Grant Smith from Woodgrove HS (VA). Standing at 6'3 and 280 pounds, Grant was a First Team selection in his county, district, and region last season. Grant also holds an offer from Emory & Henry University along with an offer from Ferrum College.

Finally, an offer was given by Davidson to DL Donovan Brooks who attends Broomfield HS (CO). At 6'0 and 260 pounds, Donovan also has offers from Adams Stame and Fort Lewis. Donovan also lists a 4. GPA on his Twitter/X profile along with some impressive weight maxes - 550 in the squat, and 315 in the bench.

Featured Local Players In Attendance

Of course, there were a lot of players from North Carolina in attendance at the camp and we'll share some of those players here.

6'2 185-pound Wide Receiver [player_tooltip player_id='2206337' first='Ronan' last='Nieland'] from Hickory HS was recently added to our rankings, and reported that he ran a 4.4 40-yard dash at the Mega Camp. The Red Tornadoes expect to be a contender for a state championship once again this upcoming season, and after a 585 yard season last year, expect Ronan to play an even bigger role in their offense this season.

OL [player_tooltip player_id='2126175' first='Will' last='Johnson'] from the Charlotte Catholic Cougars was in attendance, and as a big strong guard, he reported that he ran a 5.05 40-yard dash, and recorded a 99.5 inch broad jump. The Cougars like to get their linemen on the move in the running game, and with those numbers you can bet Johnson, an All-Conference performer last season, will be on the move a good bit this season.

TE Drew Sigmon from Bandys High School is a good-looking tight end prospect at 6'3 and 235 pounds. Drew showed some nice hands and seperation in some 1 on 1 clips from the camp. Bandys lost a good bit of production from a strong offensive team last season, and Drew's got a very good opportunity to step in and make an impact in his junior season.

DL/EDGE Chrisitan Romine from Union Pines High School was also in attendance, and he's a player you get excited about just off of his physical profile. Standing at nearly 6'5 and 250 pounds, that's a player that college football programs can mold into what they want. Christian shared that he ran a 4.74 40-yard dash, had a 31 inch vertical, and a 8 foot 8 inch broad jump. Some good combine stats to build off of going into his senior year.

Finally, QB Josiah Waters from Grace Christian was in attendance at the Academic Mega Camp. Standing at 6'2 and 200 pounds, Josiah performed well enough to receive an offer from Oberlin College after the camp concluded. Watching some clips from the camp, I like his fundamentals and smooth delivery of the football from the pocket. Last season, Josiah threw for 1800 yards and accounted for 29 touchdowns in their offensive attack. Also having an unweighted 3.8 GPA will allow a number of opportunities to play on the next level!

Some other players in attendance will be players to watch for their respective teams this upcoming season:

QB AJ McClain - Ashbrook High School - Will lead a strong offense as a dual-threat player for the Green Wave, providing balance in the air when those opportunities present themselves
ATH Xavier Lopez-Cruz - South Mecklenburg High School - Dynamic offensive player on the outside who has strong range in the secondary as well
WR [player_tooltip player_id='1678644' first='Shammah' last='Cabell'] - JH Rose - Very productive receiver coming off of an All-Conference Season who should be a go-to-guy at a new school for his senior year
OL Matt Worley - Community School of Davidson - Expect Matt to be the cornerstone of a good Spartans offensive line who's picking up steam as a recruiting prospect
ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1224735' first='Carter' last='Stevens'] - Christ The King - Carter is productive on both sides of the ball and is a player that the Crusaders will lean on as a leader and a star again this year
OL [player_tooltip player_id='1607907' first='Nick' last='Albright'] - Crest - Versatile and strong lineman who already has the Chargers as a favorite to repeat as state champions in the 5A classification in North Carolina
EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1701467' first='Emmanuel' last='Rucker'] - NW Cabarrus - Key player for the frontline of the Trojans' defense as they challenge for a conference championship this season
OL [player_tooltip player_id='2220822' first='Austin' last='Day'] - Hough - Big interior lineman will play an important role for a group that lost some talented players to graduation as they reload for a repeat in the 8A classification in North Carolina
