Expert Analysis
Matt Morrow | Prep Redzone Scout
Paxton is one of the hardest-working defensive linemen I’ve seen on film. His highlights are impressive because of his ability to shed blocks and make plays against both the run and the pass. Paxton played an important role in the Chargers’ winning the 5A State Championship. His recruiting with college football programs will come in time, but he’s an important piece for the Crest program next season.

There will be plenty of scouts and college coaches who want to use Dobbins on offense, but in my opinion, you can’t let a guy with his athleticism leave the defensive line. Crest’s offensive players make most of the headlines, but Dobbins is key for a thriving state-championship defense, and he has plenty of untapped potential. His lateral agility and quickness allow him to shoot gaps or even line up on the edge and make plays from the back side.

Dobbins lines up all over the place for Crest and often comes off the edge. His height might push him inside long-term and that’s okay with us. Guys his size shouldn’t be able to move with the suddenness and quickness that he does and he gets up to full-speed in a hurry. On film, he makes offenses look like they’re playing in slow motion. His upside is tremendous and if he can put on a bit more weight while maintaining quickness, he’s going to fly up my personal board.
