Christian is another player who has really had a strong offseason, leading him to commit to play for the University of South Florida earlier this year. Christian has the frame and strength that college football programs are coveting for the important EDGE position. At 6’4, Christian’s long arms and quick burst rushing the passer are traits that make him a tough player for opposing offensive lines to block consistently. He’s got very good speed and a motor that doesn’t stop – I really like seeing him track plays from behind or show impressive speed when sacking the quarterback. Christian will help the secondary a lot this season with his pass rush.
Crest’s fast-rising edge rusher is flying up recruiting boards, but we actually had him slated for a massive jump in the rankings prior to the offers rolling in. His film is the reason. When that dropped, we saw a lengthy, high-upside edge rusher with far more strength than you’d expect. He ragdolls offensive tackles, and has the bend to get around the edge and make plays. Expect him to continue to rack up offers, and he’s a guy who could ultimately end up at the Power Four level.
We introduced Christian to our rankings, and it seems like ever since that point in time, he’s exploded from a recruiting perspective. I thought this past season there was exponential growth in Christian’s game, and it really came from being in a defense that really highlighted what he does well as an EDGE player. I’ve seen Christian up close in a showcase setting, and I knew it was only a matter of time – the physical traits are all there – length, speed, and strength in setting the edge. Now, Christian has received the coaching to allow him to excel as a player. From a recruiting perspective, Christian has received all 9 of his current offers this year! He’s been offered by Gardner-Webb, East Carolina, Lafayette, Elon, Furman, Wofford, Richmond, & Old Dominion.
A lot can be made of players switching schools in this modern era of high school football, but coming to Crest, I think, has unlocked Christian as a true college football EDGE prospect. You immediately see the frame on film, along with his get off and technique, and you see why he has picked up 3 college football offers in a short period of time from Marshall, East Carolina, and Gardner-Webb. I love his athletic profile as well, and I’ve seen him up close in camp settings and knew it was a matter of time before it all started to come together for him.
